is new package better than buying seperate? we have usually done packages before and like the convenience. new dining package sounds great. but is it cheaper to buy seperate and look (hope) for codes? we are limited to early june as only time i can go. (i coach high school football and basketball so cant take off during fall or miss many days in spring.) 2 adults and one infant on trip.
what about AAA, can that save enough on 5 night package deal?
any other ideas, tips, i am missing?
any info would be great.
thanks,

In general. it is cheaper to book everything separately than it is to book a package. Packages are all about convenience, not about saving money.

There are currently no codes available for June stays (either package or room-only) right now. Everyone is kind of waiting for that second week of March. That's when codes for late-spring/early summer were announced last year.

AAA can book a discounted room or package for your for any date in 2005. The discount can range from 10-20% off the published rack rate for your hotel, depending on the type of hotel and the season that you're staying. The ticket portion of the package can also be discounted. Whether this is worth join AAA depends upon what your local membership fees are and how much you'll save on the trip.

I got a AAA quote for my 5-nights at CSR in April. It would save me all of $124 off the current rack rate. Membership was $56. That's really not all that impressive to me but I was joining AAA anyway, so I'll take it (just in case there are no AP discounts for my dates). A longer stay or a package would result in more savings but neither fit into my plans.

My advise would be to wait a week or two for codes to be announced. You'll be able to get a better idea of how they measure up against each other then.

IMO the packages seem to be a better deal now than they were before MYW. (espescially if we don't see any codes come out) It always seemed like before booking everything separtae saved a lot of money. But now packages vs. booking separate seem to have a similar pricetag.
The packages are more flexible now so that is a plus.

I agree with cheapmom, the packages seem better than what they used to be. I priced out a 7 night stay using a package and then priced separately. The difference was only $1.00. I usually book separate, but I will be using the package this time. :)

princess: Has anyone purchased the MYW tickets from a different place other than disney and gotten a discount? I'm planning on doing 7 day, but not sure if I book seperate use a room only code, should I add tickets, or buy the tickets some place else... (and I dont remember which outlets have been used...)

TIA

Edited to add, I know there are now two threads about tickets, and the names of reputable sights, as well as warnings with ebay sellers (and I thank you for posting the information... again!!)

I am still curious as to the Budgeting aspect of buying tickets from a reputable broker as opposed to the Disney MYW package deals. From a glance it would seem to be a no brainer... but my brain is exhausted!! :)

ie the one site I went was selling park hopper tickets, and disney is no longer selling park hoppers, but MYW and then add on a park hopper option...
