Package or air on my own?

On previous trips to WDW, I've booked everything as a package through AAA. I was considering doing everything myself this year (April 2011) through the website or over the phone. Am I better off doing the package still or is it cheaper to do air alone?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Southwest tickets are available at Newark Airport soon, but I'm going during spring break so I don't want to wait until the last minute to book air. I heard March '11 as a possible start for Southwest.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to know unless you go through the process both with AAA and on your own to see which will be cheaper. Often doing each piece yourself can be cheaper as you taylor to what you want as opposed to what a package offers. It takes time to do this so it's a judgement call...is the potential savings worth it to you for spending the time to do all the rersearch.

As far as SW coming to your airport: IMO if you are flying during a peak period I'd book what I thought was a good rate as soon as possible. Waiting on a rumor could have you paying much higher prices if you wait to book close to your flight date especially if SW doesn't start in that market by that date.
