I previously booked and put a deposit on a package at AKL. The same package I booked is now $200 cheaper than the rate I reserved. Is there a way to take advantage of the drop in price without losing my ADRs? Thanks, as always, for your collective wisdom.

If you call Disney, they can usually adjust the price of your reservation, based on the current details. They'll also work to save your dining, though I'm not 100% that it's possible -- it's best to call them and ask.

Your ADRs should not be affected by your resort reservations, even if you have to cancel and rebook. It's FPs that can get messed up.

When in doubt, book the new reservation before cancelling the old one.

Thank you both. To be safe, I'm going to call to change the reservation.

Your dining reservations are not tied to a resort reservation, since anyone, even off site guests, can make an ADR. But they will be tied to your MDE account. :)

I was able to change my reservation without issue. The CM I spoke with was very helpful and we now have an extra $100 in our "spending money" budget. :dogdance:

OP, just so you know -- you can always call WDW to apply a newly released discount to your booking. Sometimes the discount offer doesn't include the type of room you're booking. If you have to change room type, for example to a preferred type room, you might not get all the savings you were hoping for. On the other hand, the new room type might be a better location and worth it in that respect.

Lots of people, like me, book way in advance, at rack rate. We have usually looked up the historic room discount dates (see allears.net or Mousesavers.com) so we anticipate new discount offers for those periods. Then we keep up on discount announcements. If/when the new discount is announced, we call right away to get best chance for a room in our resort/category. Works pretty good for our family over the years.
