We haven't flown in over 10 years so this is all new to me. We usually pack up the SUV with food and head to Florida from NY. I am trying to conquer my fear and are flying this time.

We are staying at POFQ and have the free QSDP this time around so lunch and dinner are all set. We need breakfast foods big time. We do have a fridge in the room. I don't want to have to spend money on breakfast at the food court every morning. My son can eat a complete 3 course meal before 9:00 AM...lol. My husband and I may have a nibble but nothing compared to my ds.

So what is packable and travels well? Also, the big question; how to pack it. In my luggage? Carry on? Any advice would be so helpful. I just want to have extra in case the QSDP; which we have never done, is not enough food.

So I am ready for your advice :flower3:

Go to Sams or Costco or something and get a big box of granola bars (We like quaker chewy bars) and throw them in your luggage. You could also probably pack of of the pre-cooked bacon (doesn't need refrigerated until it is open), you could pack cereal but would have to buy milk at the store. And if you're staying somewhere with an oven, you could get some of the muffin mix that only needs water. You might have to bring a muffin pan for those though, I don't know that the resorts have muffin pans.

Granola bars
cereal bars
Fruit carry on
donut sticks
muffins

I travel with "Oatmeal to Go". I am use to Oatmeal every morning and this isn't a bad substitute. Also what about bagels and peanut butter - checking the peanut butter of course.

What about a 6-pack of bagels - they could either go in your carry on or packed bags? I don't mind eating mine plain - as long as the flavor is )good (so while I like cream cheese on mine...I can certainly eat it without.

How about instant oatmeal? The packets are "skinny". I don't know how easy it is to get hot water - but I would think it would somehow be available.

If I had room in my suitcase - I would also bring some pre-wrapped muffins (i.e. the big ones, near the bakery at Sam's Club, I think they are Otis Spunkmeyer).

We have a picky toddler, so we brought some food on our trip last month. I packed th box of cereal bars and dried fruit. In my carry on I had a box of entemanns muffins, some fruit cups and a box of lance crackers. This also gave us a little extra room in our bags on the way home, which we needed!

I have bought foods and shipped them ups to the resort. If you call ahead of time the front desk will deliver the package to your room once you arrive and check in. The other iption would be something like garden grocier. You can go on their web site and order your groceries ahead of your arrival and they will deliver them to the front desk for you to pick up. Hope that helps!

I'm going in Sept and do not plan to use DDP credits for breakfast / and would like to minimize my OOP expenses for my *least* favorite meal of the day. We plan on packing a box of pop tarts, some granola bars (Special K, Fiber One etc) and also those GM Cereal and Milk bars.. they really aren't too bad. I like the Cinnamon toast Crunch kind :) Also considering a pack of english muffins and some jelly/marmalade packets.

Call your airline on what can be brought into the plane with you (not checked baggage).

Also, if you pack peanut butter in your checked suitcase, most likely the TSA will open your suitcase for inspection, so pack all your items in a large zip lock clear plastic bag (the 5 gallon size) and keep the peanut butter packed on top so it can been seen in the large zip lock clear plastic bag.

We ship items to the resort USPS (peanut butter, a can of tuna. mayo, gum, gummies, sun tan lotion) in a one price large mailing box.

We also do a car service with a 30 minute food store stop on our way to the resort. We buy donuts, cereal, fruit, carrots, celery, and granola bars....plus anything we forgot - like our kids never seem to pack their swim goggles.:rotfl:

If you bring those little oatmeal packets, and some disposable bowls and spoons, you can heat hot water in your coffeepot, then add it to your oatmeal in the bowl, easy breakfast! You can always buy some milk at our food court too.... I personally like a box of cereal, paper bowls, plastic spoons, and I buy the milk we need for breakfast- You'll have a tiny fridge to keep it cold, and it costs about 3.00(more than at home, but so much)
it doesn't seem to matter hwat I provide, my fam is always eating 2nd breakfast with an hour anyway......:rotfl:

Gardengrocer.com

Very convenient and no extra bag fee for bringing groceries with you. Plus, you can have them buy perishables like yogurts, juice, milk, butter or cream cheese for your bagels, and a case of two of water in additional to your other breakfast foods. It is so much easier than trying to figure out what will fit in your luggage without getting smashed. leaking or spoiling.

I pack Granola Bars, Cereal Bars, Fruit bars/snacks (100% fruit), applesauce pouches, oatmeal pkgs, and a box of Cheerios.

I get a fridge from a fridge swap to keep the milk cold. I usually get a milk if I'm at the resort and use my refill mug for my drink with whatever meal I'm eating at the resort and take the milk back to the fridge for cereal.

I also pack some microwave popcorn. I buy one souviener bucket and then can use the food court microwave to refill the popcorn bucket.

The food courts also have hot water if your room doesn't have a coffee pot. I use that for making oatmeal.

I also pack some $1 store bowls for the cereal and have some cheap real spoons from the second hand store.

Well since you said breakfast snacks for the PLANE we will be taking
Granola bars
Pop tarts (special treat only for traveling)

Those are easy portable and not likely to get you stopped up by TSA or cause allergy outbreaks on the plane.

Anything you buy after the security checkpoint can be taken on the plane as well. A pricier option but easy.

We take:
bagels and nutella (it's the only time we eat nutella so it's our Disney treat)
protein bars
almonds and craisins
oatmeal packets
baker's breakfast cookies

Here are a couple of observations:
1. If you are on the QSDP, you will have a refillable mug and 2 snacks each day. We use one of our snacks for breakfast and fill our mugs with hot chocolate. You can get lots of breakfast items at your food court for a snack credit. Some places will give you a side of scrambled eggs as a snack. Definately bagel/cream cheese are a snack.
2. If you are not huge eaters, split a lunch and use the extra meal credit so your son can have a big breakfast since he's such a big eater. Some lunches that we split are
a. rotisserie chicken from Cosmic Rays (MK) 1/2 a chicken, mashed pots, veggie, dessert and drink
b. double hamburger (some people buy an extra bun but I've always felt that was awkward so we just cut the double burger in 1/2, put fun toppings on our 1/2 and have plenty of meat with 1/2 the bread).
c. rotisserie chicken from Sunshine Seasons at The Land (Epcot)
3. Sometimes we'll get a cinnamon roll or fruit as our dessert and save it for breakfast or to supplement a shared meal.

Have a great time! We stayed at POFQ on our last visit and LOVED it!

Guess I should of been more specific. I meant for the hotel but packable for the plane...lol;)

The QSDP only has one snack a day for 2012 :confused3

When we fly, we pack tons of snacks. Things like:

Fruit, cut up at home
Larabars
Bread (gluten-free) topped with Almond Butter. We get Justin's travel packets of almond butter and keep them in our 3-1-1 bags.
Nuts/cereal/Dried Fruit (home-made gluten-free 'trail mix')
Coconut Flour muffins or bread (pre-made at home, stored in ziplock)
Rice Cakes
Veggies like cucumber and celery, cut up at home
Rice or Flax Crackers
Enjoy Life Chocolate bars (yum)

Peanut butter masks the smell of drugs. So does coffee. If you bring these items on the plane it sends up a red flag and they have to check your bags. Also quite a few airports will not allow you to bring foods in your carry on past security. I would stongly recommend calling ahead of time and asking if you are allowed to bring snacks on the plane. It would probably be much easier and cheaper (when you consider checked bag prices) to get breakfast foods and ship them or to order from a delivery company like garden grocier. Trying to get through airport security can be quite a headache as it is, not sure if I would want to push the envelope. Also what one airport may allow, another may not. If you have a layover it can become an issue.
