Pack presents or ship?

Just wondering if you can take wrapped presents in luggage on airplanes. I want to take our presents with us in a suitcase (there's not very many) but I don't want to be held up in security. (all are girl toys,dvds) Would it just be cheaper to mail them down?

All the airline security tips say DO NOT wrap gifts before going through security. I think I would just pack the gifts and pick up paper and bows when I got there if that is an option. Just make sure the kids are not in full view of the bag when it gets searched at the airport. That could ruin some surprises.

I don't think I would ship at this time of year either unless I did it WAY early. All of the shipping services fall behind at the holidays and you wouldn't want to have your trip spoiled by a late or misdirected package.
