DD will be 2.5 when we come down. I am not sure that we will have her out of her crib at that point, so DH and I were discussing how she would sleep. We normally take our Pack n Play with us on vacation, and can do that if we needed. I am not sure that the resorts would have them. I know there are bed rails that can be requested. We do not want her sleeping with us, as she moves ALL night long. At any rate, what has been your experience with that age? Do we get rails and try her in the bed, bring our own Pack N Play (driving down), or what?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered many times, but I could not get the search function to work today.

Thanks,

We've never brought our own Pack-n-Play, we've always gotten them at the resort in the park.

Do we just request them like the rails, or is there a fee? Did you feel they were clean?

Do you think that is still needed for a 2.5 year old? All of my friends had their children sleep with them at home and on vacation, so none can tell me the approximate time to move them to a regular bed.

Thanks for your response.

We had made the request when we made our ressie and at the desk when checking in to make sure they didn't forget. I'm not sure if there was a charge or not...I can't remember. I felt it was fine and I brought my own sheet for it...of course I sprayed it down with Lysol first and let it air out before putting the baby in. My son slept in a pack-n-play until his head and feet touched the sides and could no longer fit...I think he was over 3!
I have 4 kids and we moved each one into a bed at a different age. One was 3, one was 2 1/2 and the 3rd was 3....so I think your are right around the age to start considering it. We never used a toddler bed. We went right from the crib to a regular bed.
I wouldn't start a child in a bed on vacation though. If your child has been sleeping in a crib all along then I would stick with the pack-n-play. Vacation is not the time to make that kind of a change...for your own sanity! Good luck.

We just got back from Corodado Springs with our 2.5 year old and used thier pack n play for the first time (brought ours on previous trips). It wasn't an extra charge and was waiting for us in the room. It came with a sheet decorated with mickey that they had cleaned and wrapped in plastic - it did seem very clean. I would use it again if needed. Have fun!

we wound up using bed rails last time for our 2.5 year old dd. My ds at that age slept in the bed with me but I didn't want to go down that path with her so we set her up in the day bed at SOG with rails. You can request either those or a pack n play through the hotel reservations or when you check in. My sugegstion is no matter what you do if you are going to the room first and then planning on going out and returning around bedtime- make sure you have those rails or pack n play in your room before you leave. There is nothing worse than prolonging a bedtime on an arrival day waiting for the right sleeping things.

We used the Disney resort provided pack n play in January 2007 when DD was 2 years, 2 months and again in January 2008 when DD was 3years , 2 months. I was worried that they would question my pack n play request since it was clear that she was 3 in January 2008 (we had a package and paid for her park ticket and DDP), but it wasn't a problem.

She had to sleep in it diagonally, but she was comfortable and seems to like the security of a crib/pack n play. And in an unfamiliar setting such as a hotel, I felt that she was safer in the pack n play. Both times, I was very happy with the pack n play.

As stated by other posters, the pack n play is free.

I wouldn't move your child out of her crib until she is climbing out of it. This is the advice that the ped gave me. I moved my older DD when she was 3 (the week that she turned 3), and I could have left her until she was older (although she was on the tall side). I felt pressured by other moms since their kids had been out of the crib from an earlier age. With my second DD, I'm ignoring the pressure (and realizing that some moms wish that theirs had stayed in the crib longer!).

DD3 will be 3.5 in 2 weeks, and she is still in a crib! She's happy with it and so are we!

As other posters stated, the pack n play is free...you just have to request it. As far as moving from a crib - I moved DS 1 the day he climbed out...I think he was close to 2. He's in a toddler bed now (he's currently 2.5). But he actually prefers to sleep in the queen sized bed in the guest room.
