Pacing Requirements and results from Previous Races?

I have also read this but I think people are mixing up this warning on the runDisney website that "Runners will be placed in the last start group if appropriate race distance is not submitted...." However, that only comes into play if you select you'll finish the half in less than 2 hours and your PoT doesn't meet the guidelines. It's not applicable if you select a finish time over 2 hours for the half marathon.

I could see how that could be interpreted that way. Instead of:

"Runners will be placed in the last start group if appropriate race distance is not submitted for proof of time or if the data provided is incomplete or cannot be verified."

Maybe it should read instead:

"If proof of time is submitted and i) appropriate race distance is not submitted for proof of time, or ii) if the POT data provided is incomplete, or iii) if POT cannot be verified, then the runner will be placed in the last start group."

This emphasizes that this statement only refers to those who submit a faulty (for one reason or another) POT, and this doesn't have to do with those who submit a non-POT estimated finish.

I think it’s pretty clear from the first two sentences of the section that the subsequent discussions about POT aren’t relevant to a non-POT estimated finish:

”If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in 2 hours (2:00) or less or the Marathon in 4 hours (4:00) or less, proof of time is required for start group placement. If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in over 2 hours or the Marathon in over 4 hours, proof of time is not required.”

I’m all about giving RunDisney a hard time for the ambiguities and inconsistencies in their communications, but I think a lot of the POT confusion comes from people going off social media group word of mouth or failing to read for content on the RunDisney site.
