Pacers and balloon ladies in DLP?

So excited to be going for that 36K and Castle to Chateau in Sept!!! We are very familiar with how WDW and DL races are as far as pacing and balloon ladies to keep everyone moving. Are there any such things in DLP? Is the pacing based on when each runner crosses the start line or when the last runner does (like in the states)? I thought I read somewhere that the 5K was also timed??? But now, I can't find it.
