PA Mayor tells Illegal Immigrants They Should Go

That locality is only 30 minutes from here and the crime level has increased so much and 9 times out of 10 ILLEGAL immigrants are the stars of the crime in question. We are also not talking petty crimes here, we are talking drive by shootings, murders and major drug dealing.

Your title is definately misleading and should be changed.

If the federal government won't do anything about the tide of illegal immigration, the the cities and states should feel free to handle it on their own. The best thing I saw in the article was the piece about fining employers and landlords for hiring and renting to illegals. Hit the employers hard enough, and they'll learn that hiring "cheap" labor isn't so cheap after all.

I also got a good out of the quote talking about it being illegal to do this to illegals.

Send them all to Cambridge, MA. It's a "sanctuary". While we're at that...let's all of us meet up there. We can get welfare money and food stamps no questions asked. If they can't question the illegal immigrants, they shouldn't question us out-of-staters, I guess. Free money.

Even though I'm against illegal immigration, I actually helped 2 of them a few weeks ago. I was walking through Boston and two guys came up to me shoving their Mexican passports in my face. I THINK they asked me "who takes this". They were very nice. I told them to get on the Green Line and head toward Lechmere Station. When they get off the train, there will be a Sheriff's Office there and, since it's a sanctuary city, they won't be arrested or reported and they can get social services.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Cambridge is willing to help them, so I'm just trying to help Cambridge and, hey, I don't pay taxes in Cambidge, so what do I care if they use City Funds to support illegal immigrants??

Good for the mayor! I have no problem with immigrants who come here legally. I just don't see how people who are in this country illegally feel that they are entitled to welfare, healthcare, etc?? If you're in this country illegally, you have no rights, other than the right to be on the next plane/boat/train/bus back where you came from!

Because we have allowed it. As long as that continues, there will be more who feel that they are entitled. Many, many more.

It's sort of like WDW, how many people get upset because they heard that someone else got something for free/discounted that they didn't get? (ie towel animals, nuff said) I know that is not at all the same, I am only talking about the mindset of entitlement.

While I'm against illegal immigration, exactly how is a landlord to determine if someone is here illegally? Their looks? My landlord doesn't care about anything as long as I don't destroy the house and don't bounce the rent checks.

If the government was serious about it, all the would have to do is head to a certain farm here every fall. They could round up dozens.

If your landlord knew that he would face a stiff financial penalty for renting to illegals, I have no doubt that he would care. And proving citizenship isn't difficult - a birth certificate or voter ID, along with a picture ID, would do.

ITA - they could round up a dozen or so at the 7-11 every morning.

Oh my. I had no idea about any of this. I do support it, but I feel so bad for the residents in that area. What's sad is that we've let this get so far out of control that actions such as these are even needed. I wouldn't want to be one of the people who voted for this right now. I do hope they stay safe.

We get the Wheeling, WV news stations on our cable channels. I noticed that they have started reporting illegal alien arrests, apparently to discourage illegals from staying in the area. They have had 80 recent arrests. I say, "Good for the localities trying to address this problem." I also think it's only a matter of time before our federal legislatures make these kinds of tactics illegal in some way, because they honestly think the public will do nothing about it if they pass some bill in Washington and that we really don't care that much.

I personally wish the PA legislature would create a task force to pick up illegals and bus them to INS in DC. If the illegals returned to PA, they would be sent to prison. That's my solution.
