Hey Guys!!!

I saw a thread a while back about P90X :thumbsup2 . A few members were asking questions about it, then users started chiming in. So, I thought it might be a good idea to start a DIS-P90X Club for support, questions, diet tips, ect.

________________________________________________________________

A little background on myself: I know this says this is my first post but I've reading the DIS for over 10 years.

Like many other others, I became obsessed with the infocommercial, watching it whenever it was on. Bought the program and started in January. Starting out slow for my first 90 days. It's been a looooonnng time since I've worked out. Started doing only 4-5 days of the 6 day program. I'm at week 9 and start this week doing the full program. Planning on doing another round of 90 days and maybe even buying Insanity.

Starting weight was 205... now at week 9 I'm at 185. My diet is very simple and try I'll post my diet a little later.

So, to anwser the main question asked on the other thread: "Does it work?"... heck yeah!!!! I've been doing it only 4-5 days a week and lost 20+ pounds... Gained a lot of muscle.... went from a 38 pant to 34's (there some 32's in the closet calling my name :thumbsup2 ).

Can't wait to see the results doing the full program. I've still have a good bit of work to do.

Keep pushing play!!

Thanks parrotbay. I will watch them now!

Today was arm day for me. I keep bringing it, and I feel great! :thumbsup2

ETA: I love Tony!!!!!! :yay: To be honest, though, I am not crazy about the glasses.

If you don't mind sharing, how much did the program cost?

It was about $150 for everything. We called and ordered it by phone after watching an info commercial on TV. It has been the best thing that we have ever done as far as exercising! I highly recommend it. You can order online, too. I will say that my friend got it from someone off of eBay cheaper than the official web site. So that is another option. Just be sure to get the videos AND the book. The book gives you the explanations of all of the exercises, the chart for progress, and the readiness test. I do not recommend the videos only; IMO you really need the book too.
You will also need hand weights and a pulll-up bar or bands.

I bought my program on ebay used for about $70 plus shipping. Just be careful on ebay. I would only buy Beachbody products used. Most of the Beachbody products on ebay listed as NEW are counterfeit, especially the stuff shipped from China.

Picked up my push-up bars from Sears on sale for $9.99 and my pull-up bar from TJ Maxx for $19.99.

I do not use the Beachbody supplements. Too pricey for me. I buy EAS Whey Protien from Sam's (72 servings for $29.98). I also get my protein bars from Sam's (Pure Protein-18 bars for $19 and Clif Bars-24 bars for $18).

I am in the 3rd stage of my 3rd round and it most certainly works. I have been active all my life (hockey, hiking, outdoor stuff in general) but after 2 children and a start up business I got soft! (to the tune of 250lbs ) I currently weigh in at 192 and have never been in better physical or mental health. If you are considering starting up my only suggestion is to pace yourself as it is very demanding. The people on the DVD are in phenomenal shape and they struggle. If you stay dedicated you will improve rapidly!

good luck to all and "do your best and forget the rest" :goodvibes

I love P90x! I am already down over a size and lost 10 pounds. I just started ordering the One on One with Tony and I like it as well. I bought the Shakeology once to try and so far I am not loving it and am avoiding drinking it. I need to find some way to make it taste good. Especially since I paid so much. I do like the recovery drink though...

I like the recovery drink too.
What is the One on One?

did they ever fix the recovery drink? (of course, if you weren't using it about 4 years ago, you might not know what I'm talking about or have a comparison to pit it against)..... when I first tried it and used it regularly, it was a really fine powder (almost like sand), and mixed instantly when water was added.... about a year or so ago, they changed where they were getting it from, and it turned more of a flour consistency, and would clump up in the glass when adding water.... just didn't compare to the previous batches....

I did some searching and ended up switching to 'Ultragen' which was more like the old X recovery drink.

good luck with the workouts.... just restarted a new round of the X myself last weekend (actually feeling pretty good, so probably need to increase the weights/reps)

dh is thinking about trying this. an negatives?

I'm in! I tried starting this last week but got sidetracked. I am starting fresh today. The only thing is that I cannot follow the diet plan because I am nursing. I do however watch what I eat and eat well. I would like to lose 50-60lbs. I know it will take longer without the specific diet but I still think it will work. I am so glad I found this thread!

The only negative that I can say is that it is high impact. For anyone with knee or back issues, it will probably require modification. He does show that on the video, though.
Also, just know that it is hard and you feel it! It does, however, work!!!!!!

Good to know. What about rotator cuff issues? I have problems with moves that bring my arm up and around. Things like swimming, a tennis serve, even push ups hurt if I bring my body too low.

I just recently started P90X. There's a few reviews on my blog under Working Out if anyone wants to read them.

They really kick your butt!

There are MANY push ups on a couple of videos. You can modify them and/or do what you can. There are other exercises where you will move your arm up and around, but, again, you can modify or just do what you can.
Do not let the need to modify stop you. He shows ways to modify on each video.
