Prayers and Pixie Dust for our older lab Casey. She's nine yrs old so getting old. A few weeks ago we noticed a lump on her side. (From what i have researched on the internet it could be a lymphoma or is it lympoma. Common in Labs her age but could require surgery and some are not always benign.)

She's pretty lazy so lays down alot. Yesterday she sat beside me and I noticed another larger lump on her neck (near breastbone) I hadn't seen before.

So tomorrow morning we're going in to the vet to get them aspirated and see what happens from there.

Casey looks so nice. My very best wishes for Casey, and you all. Hope it goes well, she will be in my prayers for a good exam, nothing serious.

Our sammy is a 10yo black lab and has a couple of these. They are very common in older dogs and are generally benign. Our vet took a couple of samples and they are just fatty cells so now worries. Can you move the lump around? Is it farily free from her body? These are what Sammy's are like.

 It is always hard when our "babies" aren't well.

I think you're talking about a "lipoma" or a fatty tumor? My dog (who is 5) just got diagnosed with one. My German Shepherd had tons of them. Some we removed because they were in odd places and others were left on.

The lump on her side does move around. The one on her neck seems bigger but doesn't move as easily but it could just be because of it's location.

I sincerely hope these lumps are nothing to worry about. Our furbaby's are so very precious to us. Unfortunately for us, we lost our beloved 8 year old lab to lymphoma just in October. I truly am saying a prayer that you have a good outcome. Please keep us posted. Hugs are coming your way!!!!

(BTW, what color are the lumps?)

Lumps are under the skin (internal) so no color.....

She does have a couple other warty type growths though (on her face) that are dark colored. She had one of them removed two years ago from her eyebrow because it was getting real big. It was benign. Those are different from the internal ones we're more concerned about right now.

I'm glad you didn't say red or dark purple. My dog had those and they were cancerous (malignant tumors are often highly vascular). Regular skin color is good as far as tumors (the medical name for large lumps) go.

I will say a prayer that everything is okay and they are just the fatty tumors. :goodvibes

She is gorgeous. Let's hope for good news! :grouphug:

P & PD Headed your way. We lost our lab Sam right before Christmas this year. :guilty: Hopefully good news will come out in your situation.

My Cocker Spaniels has fatty tumors. I had never heard of them and we found like 3 one night. We were all crying and upset. We were all relieved to hear she "keeps her fat in her pocket"..lol

Thanks for everyone's thoughts.....

I have been through this with both of my dogs in the last 18 months. My oldest dog has a lipoma on his neck or breastbone, just under his muzzle. It is really hard so the vet did surgery thinking it was not a lipoma. What happened is the lipoma is underneath of his muscle and is causing the muscle to stick out and that is what is hard, it was totally benign though. My other dog had one removed from his thigh area because it was unusual, ended up having a skin disease on top of the area of the lipoma but was benign as well.

Here's a :grouphug: for you and Casey.

OK, sorry to keep everyone waiting.....

$75 later....... Good News!!! :Pinkbounc

The vet said that both appear to be lympomas (fatty tumors).... She did a needle aspirate on both and looked at the stuff under a microscope.

We only need to worry if they change in size or her behavior changes.

Other than that she does need to get her teeth cleaned again....
