Hi! We may be traveling to Disney in about two and a half weeks and my mother, who has severe pulmonary fibrosis due to an immune disorder, requires fulltime oxygen. We have the access to the oxygen already taken care of, but my concern is if she will be allowed to ride the rides with it. My mom has never likeed the thrill rides like Space. Splash, or Big Thunder Mountain, I am curious about rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, and some of the more tame rides. If anyone could help me out with this or give me any advice about visiting Disney with oxygen I would really appreciate it.

I don't know the answer, but would like to...my dad was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis last fall and it has greatly restricted his life. Since his retirement he loves to travel.

So, to the OP...how did you go about getting the oxygen arranged for your trip. My dad isn't one to try to figure it out for himself which for him meant he just missed a trip he'd been wanting to take for a year. I'd love for him to go with us once, but he's not a park person, so he'd end up hanging out at the resort, which is okay. I just would need to figure out how to get the oxygen set up for him.

Thanks!

Normally the company that is your oxygen supplier at home can contact a supplier down here and make all the arrangements. They will even provide insurance information and work with your insurance carrier so it is basically seamless.

In addition, if you rent an ECV or wheelchair from off-site you can get one that has one or two tank carriers on it.

Also, in case of any problems in the park there are RN-staffed First Aid Stqations in each park (which do have oxygen) and Disney has its own paramedics.

For answering my part of the questions, thanks so much! It is nice to know that if my dad decides to go with us on a trip it won't be a huge hassle. He was really disappointed when we talked about going on a cruise and then didn't.

Thanks again!!

My son needs oxygen at night and for travel we contact our home medical supplier( Apria in our case) and they arrange it for us. We will have a portable with us and they will arrange for a liquid stationary tank with a top fill to be there at the destination. I also call and confirm this with the destination's supplier just to be sure they have all the info and know exactly where it should be delivered. I know there is an Apria in Orlando since that's who we are using for our upcoming trip. Be sure to specify exactly what you are needing for the trip--ie will they supply extra nasal cannulas, humidifier bottles, etc or will you be bringing them--so that you aren't missing things when you check in. Have a good trip!

I know I am a little late with this but about 6 month ago it was impossible to bring a oxygen tank on a airplane. You had to rent it through the airline and it was very expensive. I am not sure if this is still the case so please call in advance and ask about their oxygen regulations if you are flying.
