Had read on these boards about the 'free' sample of the Oxyball-so got one.
Used it for the first time while at the BCV this week. Really liked it......until pulled out a pair of my dark brown capri's and found white 'spots' on them!
Great product, but beware!

Good to know. I've always wondered how these "balls" know how much detergent/fabric-softener to distribute. Do they distribute the same amount each time? Are they smart enough (or is there a dial you turn) so they know if you have a small load versus an extra large load? Then there's the effect of soft water versus hard water (hard water requires more, soft water less)...I'm not sure I'm ready to give up measuring... :laundy:

I bought a small bottle of All concentrated detergent. 32 loads of laundry out of 32 ounces. I bought a 16 ounce shatterproof bottle and I plan to fill that up. I'll take the lid from the All detergent bottle to measure. I use dryer sheets for stuff I put in the dryer, and take a small bottle of Downy for stuff I hang to dry.

I bought a waterproof bag that I'm putting all the liquid stuff in now that I have put it in our checked-on luggage.

Thanks for letting us know. I had planned to use mine in December but I think I will make other arrangements. We mostly wear denim on vacation and DH would die if I messed up his favorite "good bum" jeans. :sad2:

Do you pull the ball out before the rinse cycle? If not, when the washer fills up for the final full rinse, does it release detergent? How does it know if it's washing or rinsing??????

I was wondering the same thing.

I bought a 16 oz bottle of All, too, and saved the empty to refill for future trips. That worked great for me. I even put some bleach powder in a bag for my whites! :)

I actually sign up to receive a lot of free samples and always save the one-load packets of laundry detergent/fabric softener that comes in the mail. The packets are easy to pack as they take up little room and they are constructed well enough that they don't break open and leak inside the suitcase.
