OxiClean Detergent Ball

I have never tried these, but thanks for the link. I just ordered one myself. Seems like a great idea for traveling.

Again, thanks for the info.

I bought one of these for our last trip to VB a few months back.
It's GREAT! :cheer2:
I have one already packed for next week's trip to BWV, too.

The product doesn't generate the suds that a regular detergent might, but it cleans extremely well even in cold water-I have a 12 year old DS who wears everything he eats, so anything that can get that stuff out gets a :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 from me.

I came home and signed up for the auto-delivery, so I won't run out. We love the space-saving, non-messy aspect as well as the easy travel part.

BTW-when you wash in cold water, you may end up getting more than 25 uses-we did.

Hope that helps!

I'm glad to hear from someone who has used the product! I saw it on TV but thought it couldn't possibly work as well as they say. It's such a new and unusual idea. This sounds even better than the detergent tabs for travel!

How do you know when the cleaning power is getting low....when it's almost ready to run out?

The ball gradually 'dissolves' as you use it. When it gets to be the size of a ping-pong ball, it's time to replace it. You can then re-use the bag for another full-size ball.

Hope that helps :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the information. I just ordered one as well. It sounds like it would be perfect for our trips.

I just oredered one as well. If it is as good as the other Oxyclean products, it should be a great thing to take to WDW!

After my post it arrived in the mail yesterday
I removed it from the original packaging and placed the soap ball in the bag
it comes with then put it in a zip lock bag.
It then is about the size of a large grapefruit and will work fine in my luggage.
Glad to hear that youy have tried & like it
Thanks

I assume you leave it in the washing machine for the entire cycle. If so, how does it know to release detergent in the wash cycle, but not in the rinse cycle? Also, how does it know if you have a full load versus a small load? Sounds really convenient.

According to the package it's a combination of the water temp and agitation. Maybe it does release a small amount in the rinse cycle anyway, but that hasn't had any effect for us that I've noticed.
You might have to see one to realize just how compacted it is..it's not at all like a quick dissolving product.

I can only assume that it really doesn't know the difference between size of the load, except for the amount of water in the washer and how that might impact how it dissolves. It hasn't made any difference for us as far as the usage. We get at least the 25 loads they advertise plus more! I do about 8 loads a week and after more than 2 months, I just needed to change to ball number 3 this week!

I love this thing :thumbsup2

I'm allergic to prefumes. Is it scented?
Is it available in stores or jusy on-line?

It does have a 'fresh' scent to it. Sorry about that.....

I believe it's only online and mail order--but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I went to Costco yesterday and looked for it there. Not available (they carry OxiClean and other Orange Glo products). I'm hoping it will eventually show up there and I'll be able to buy it locally.

I'm still debating if I want to order it to try it out. I was also wondering about detergent being released during the rinse cycle.

From what I've observed over the last few months, it seems that the combination of water, agitation and the 'abrasion effect' (for lack of a better term) that the honeycomb texture of the bag has on the ball when combined with agitation is what allows the detergent to be 'released' from the ball.

Without the agitation, I don't think much (if any) soap is released into the rinse cycle at all. Of course, that has just been our personal experience and observation.

Hmmmm, now that I have ordered it, I'm wondering if it will even work in my home washing machine! We have a front load Neptune, so not much aggitation going on there. I'm guessing it will be fine in the DVC machines though.

(Diane-me, not you, ponders this) Hmmm, this ball only works in the DVC machines....

I guess you'd have to make a few more visits 'home' to get your money's worth, right? :rotfl2:

LOL, yep, and I'm guessing I only keep it for DVC use!

Thanks for the link. I ordered and sent the link to a few friends. I hope it works!
