Owners Locker Question

I was wondering if this was possible as we just signed up for OL. How long will a resort hold a UPS box? We arrive on a Saturday so I am thinking of shipping one out on a Tues/Wed... does that sound OK?

OP, we just joined DVC and signed up for OL in preparations for our upcoming trip. I am planning on ordering some stuff from Garden Grocer, bringing some stuff with me and MAYBE making a pit stop at Wal-Mart if I don't do the UPS Box thing, which I think is a great idea. My goal someday is to just pack a carry-on, wouldn't that be sweet?! :woohoo:

We also arrived on a Saturday for our 1st trip after OL and I shipped the box on Monday. I wanted to make sure it got there. I don't think they mind holding boxes for a week or so from what I've heard.
 
AWESOME LISTS!!!!!! :thumbsup2 We just bought our locker so I'm preparing my lists. Funny, I dont even have an ADR list prepared yet and my 180 window is in less than 2 weeks :rolleyes1, it's DVC and this stuff I'm exicted about. :laughing: I'm just not excited about eating out so much any more.

SamSam - I was going to pipe up and say "are you sure you can get all that stuff in just two OLs? But in checking DW's list of what we have in just one, you probably still have room for more stuff . . . . .

It's amazing how much stuff can fit in a locker! Making room for a mini Keurig may be a stretch, but I'm determined it will work.
 
Our first locker we purchase is filled with cooking and bathroom needs. We usually go down to Disney for a 2 week stay in March and I felt we could save $$ if we did some cooking in our studio. Last time we went we spent approx. $180 on food and drink from the Garden Grocer( would have spent that on 2 dinners with drinks at Disney!). Unfortunately...or fortunately, my husband's luggage got lost at the airport for about 12 hours. The Me yellow tags got ripped off during transport and ME never collected his luggage. They did eventually find it and deliver it, however with the thought of us having to spend $20 on some underwear if the luggage didn't show up, I suggested that we purchase another locker to store our Disney clothes. Owner's locker delivered our second locker while we were on our vacation and we left most of our clothes there. I am going to take space bags down this trip with a compact air mattress pump and condense the clothes to make more room.It is unbelievable how much stuff you can fit in the lockers( especially if you are oraganized and a good packer). After this trip down, we'll be able to travel down with our netbooks and books in hand and not have to worry about luggage at all!!!!
Most of the stuff in the lockers I shipped down thru UPS. From CT. it takes about a week using Ground shipping. Owners lockers are well worth the $$ and convienience!!!!!:love:
 

Ok, I hate to ask for the sake of sounding stupid ... But what is Owners Lockers and how does it work? I've often heard of it, but I assumed it was a self storgage unit, but when I saw the photo in the previous reply, I noticed that it's a tote... Do you ship the tote to your resort and they hold it for you? I'm confused :confused3, could someone help me??

Do you ship the tote to your resort and they hold it for you? I'm confused :confused3, could someone help me??

It is a service where you pay a membership fee to join and then an annual fee. For the fee, you get a big purple tote - a Locker. It includes a small tackle box and dividers to use inside the Locker to keep small stuff organized. When you initially join, you designate a delivery date and site. For most, that is the day they arrive at their Orlando-area hotel. The Owner's Locker people will deliver your new, empty Locker to bell services at the hotel - it will usually get there before you do! I often get the text message notification that my Lockers have arrived when I turn my phone back on after landing in Orlando on the morning our vacation starts.

You put whatever you want in the Locker - just not perishable or dangerous flammable items - as long as the lid will still close. The Locker comes with numbered seals - 4 per Locker. (you can request more if needed) On check-out day, you pack up your Locker and close the lid using 2 numbered seals. (some people add their own lock, but I don't find this necessary) Call Bell Services to pick it up for storage or take it to Bell Services yourself. Oh, there's also a clear pocket on the front with your name on a card - when you check out, you turn the card over so it says "checked out" - that helps Bell Services separate the ones for pickup by Owner's Locker. The Owner's Locker purple van usually starts pick-up runs at 2pm and they take all the Lockers for the day back to their climate-controlled storage facility. You'll receive another notification that the Lockers are back "home" - I usually get this one while we're waiting for our flight home!

For the annual fee, you get a certain number of deliveries per Locker - it depends on the plan you select and whether or not you have a discount at sign up (like the ones offered through the DIS, through Mousesavers, or through All Ears). They will also make arrangements to meet you at the airport if you want to take your Locker on a cruise or if you are going to the beach before, after or instead of an Orlando-area vacation.

I canNOT say enough good things about the service and the difference our Lockers make in our vacation! The Owner's Locker people are GREAT and their service is impeccable! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
