Owner's Locker for Clothes

I was thinking that now the airlines (at least our airline) are charging for the first checked bag, it might be time for a second Owner's Locker for clothes. I have items I could leave down there (lots of Disney t-shirts) and use just for my trips. I was thinking to leave the following in a second locker:

6 Disney T-shirts
2 Plain white T-shirts
3 Shorts
1 Jeans
1 Ryka Sneakers
2 pairs flip-flops
1 water shoes
3 pairs of shorts
6 pairs of underwear
3 bras
6 pairs of socks
2 Rain coats
1 aquapac
2 Disney Sweat Shirts
3 Swimsuits
2 Swimsuit Coverups
1 Digital Camera
1 Charger for camera
1 Disney jewelry
1 sunglasses

Is anyone else thinking about doing this or is it a really dumb idea? It would cost a little more, but all I would have to deal with at the airport is a small carry on.

The other thing I like is that my locker is ALWAYS there when I arrive and sometimes I have to wait quite awhile for the luggage to arrive from the airport. It would be nice to have my stuff right away.

My size fluctuates so much that I would require a steamer trunk, not just an OL.

I think it's a great idea, especially if you have clothes that you only wear while at WDW. I have read of other people doing this and I'm sure some of them will add to this soon.
OL is the best!!!

I think it's a good idea. That's exactly what we did. We got a 2nd locker and I put clothes that we wear at Disney sandles flip flops and running shoes.We will be able to just take carryons with us next trip. It was worth the cost of an extra locker.

This is my problem as well. It would be my luck that we would get down there and nothing would fit. We do have a couple of those soft resort robes in our OL. I also like the sneaker idea since those take up so much room in the luggage.

We can literally get onto the plane with nothing but the clothes on our backs (and our wallets) and spend a couple of weeks there. It makes travel SO much easier. We use the bags that condenses your clothes when you squeeze the air out. The bags protect the clothes from the elements and smells and things like that, and it gives us more room.

I think it's a great idea.

This is plenty of time. Just go to the website, sign up, and fill in your travel dates. The locker will be waiting at the luggage storage area of whatever hotel you are staying at, ready for you to bring to your room and fill up!

Kayak.com now has a link to a page with all of the airline fees on it. Right now, I think Jet Blue and SW are the only domestic airlines that don't charge for the first bag. Everybody else has a fee.:

I have not been able to convince DH that we could get some good out of an OL yet. I could see eventually at least dropping one checked bag per trip. We are booked on Air Tran for this summer which is currently charging $15 for the 1st checked bag per flight (any and all checked bags have fees not just 2nd bags). In the past we've always traveled with 1 checked bag pp and 1 carry-on for the whole family. NOW I will be packing us into a carry-on pp and trying to get everything else into 1 large checked bag. For the return trip we usually have more stuff. I used to always pack an empty duffle that mashes flat to use as another checked bag. NOW, I'll probably check one of our orig. carry-ons and will use our DVC canvas tote that we take to use at the pool as a carry-on on the way home. DH is NOT a fan of carry-ons so I'm secretly hoping he hates the plan enough after this trip that he'll agree to an OL for the NEXT trip!

We had signed up for 1 locker last January. We enjoy that one and it's overflowing. Dh convinced me to get another one to store our clothes in. We just got that one this past January and it is full too. We have about 4 sets of clothing for both of us in it plus a pair of jeans and sweatshirts for both of us. We also left our croc's in there. It will be interesting when we go in May. We won't have to check any luggage. We will just take carry ons. It was nice to leave our clean clothes in the OL for the next WDW visit. It's nice coming home and not having piles of laundry to do.

Its the greatest idea and the OL guys are great too!!

You just need to contact John and Brian at OL and see what they can work out for you. I bet you will find them very easy to work with and they will try to accommodate you in any way they can.

We absolutely love our OL and recommend it to anyone that is interested.

We left ALL our summer clothes in our OL (first timers) this past August as we knew we were returning late Feb/early March and it saved us packing them to return home and then back again as well as storing them for our long cold winter. I did order the air tight plastic bags in order to fit it all in. I can't however for the life of me remember exactly what I left. It's OK, I love surprises!

It's really never too late to sign up. As long as we get notice by 6 pm, we can have your Locker to you that day.

We got a call today from some folks in the parking lot at Saratoga Springs. Brian got them signed up on the phone (they had already checked out and didn't have a laptop) while I headed over in the purple van. Not a problem.

Lots of folks tell us they use something called space bags for clothes. Apparently there are types that use a vacuum to suck the air out and others that you just roll up.

We already have a locker and when we came home last summer I left clothes for me and the kids as were were coming back for 10 days in October. We were able to travel all the way from Ireland with just hand luggage which is a major bonus for anyone coming from outside the USA. We were off the plane and through immigration and customs in under 15 minutes (anyone who travels internationally to the US will know that this is very fast). It was such a success that we're planning on just bringing hand luggage for our summer trip this year, buying some stuff while we're there and getting a second locker for our clothes.

Well we are sold on Owners Locker, we have two and can now travel with Just carryon, Life is good.

Thanks Owners Locker, I know it sounds like a comercial, but these guys are great and the service is beyond description.

I remember when I signed on as a Beta Member, my DH thought I was nuts.

When we came home last month, he was talking about ordering a 2nd one.

We have multiple matching T-shirts we wear at WDW and he would like to leave those down there. I am sure we can fill a 2nd one without any problem. We are just deciding whether to order it when DD and I come in June, or wait until our next family trip in January, 2010.

We're once a year folks. For us, it's at worst the same price to bring an extra checked back, or have a locker, and in many cases the extra bag is cheaper.

If you go down more often, putting clothes in the locker makes sense. But, it doesn't for us.

We decided to try it, and just filled up our first locker last month on our Jan. trip to OKW. We left a lot of things in it for the kitchen...salt and pepper, spices, snacks, canned veggies and sauce, pasta, wine, alcohol. As well as a bunch of toiletries.

So now, when we arrive at our villa next time, we can have a drink and a bottle of wine, some snacks while we prepare dinner of pasta and sauce and green bean vinaigrette. Not having to shlep out for dinner the first night will pay for the locker right there!
