I'm up on the DVC Member web site and there is a new perk listed for Owner's Locker! :thumbsup2

If you've been on the fence about getting a big purple box now is a great time to join. We don't know what we would do without our lockers.

I have been thinking about this just so I don't have to carry everything back and forth but then I think that I always fly southwest so the checked bags are already included so why pay extra for the locker...

Then again it would stop me from doing things like forgetting a second pair of shoes like I did last time (and of course my first pair got soaked) so maybe that would be worth it...

An extra pair of sneaker is just one of the things I keep in our OL. We love it. I also have the Britta water pitcher. We have many more items, but these are two of the most important. IMHO. It's so nice not to have to pack and carry these items with you each trip.

Even though we don't pay for bags when we fly Continental its great to have to locker to keep Toiletries and what not. Saves on space.

I have to say we have had our locker for a few years and this is the first time I am thinking of closing it. The reason being is we go to Hawaii each year and other places, so now I feel like I have to have double the travel items for one set to keep at home. For $99/year (we usually only go to WDW once), I could buy most of what is in my locker at WalMart. And, our next trip has a cruise on DCL so I am not sure how to even get my locker back? Anyhow, just food for thought. It's been great in some ways but I am not sure it wouldn't just be easier to have all my travel stuff at home in a rolling small suitcase and pay $25 each way when we take it.

I can do free bags on Delta.... but I have a locker.

For a quick getaway I can do carryon only and still have all my Disney "stuff"

Where did you see it on the member site? I just looked there in perks and didn't see it. I looked both under Memeber perks and Member special events, but didn't see it either of those places.

We love our Owner's Locker, and John does a great job of providing service. I just find it unusual that the DVC member site would help to promote his service. The last I heard, they were talking about starting a similar service themselves.

Very curious. Are you SURE you saw it on the Member site? I'm thinking maybe you saw it on this site, or maybe on another BBS that is for DVC members.

I saw it... looking right now

On the first page after you log in (and turn off the Sales music) therei is a "member perks" list and it's abouit the fifth item down. Purple box and the text says

"This unique serive stores, delivers and picks up all of your personal vacation stuff every time you visit - so you don't have to pack it! Plus - Members can now take 20% off the one-time Owner's Locker membership fee. "

(Typo and all, got to love Disney :) )

It's on the Home Page under the "Membership Perks and Special Offers" section as well as under "Mouse" ellaneous Perks on the "Member Privileges" link. You might need to clear your cache if it's not showing as you may be looking at an earlier page stored on your computer. Try refreshing the page or rebooting.

LOL! Didn't see the typo.

Next to buying DVC, getting owner's lockers really was the best thing for us. We do go down more then a few times a year and it's nice to have essentials in there that we don't have to lug back and forth. Just bring a few changes of clothes and we're ready to go. All of our toiletries are there (full size), laundry detergent, coffee, water filters, netbooks and router, you name it, it's there! We even have Christmas decorations stored in there for any Christmas time trip we make.

And for utahkennedys, the OL folk can work with you on getting your locker for your cruise. Just get in touch with them. They are super nice people.

(no, I don't work for OL, just love my big purple boxes!)

And when DL, SW, AA, USAir etc lose your luggage... I can survive a while out of the locker. (And I have luggage delayed on all of those carriers and others :) )

That's exactly where I am looking, Rob. I didn't see it earlier, but it's up there now. The only thing on that page when I first looked D23, and I don't see that now, so I must have been on a different page.

It's good to know that they are promoting John instead of trying to run a service in opposition to his.:thumbsup2

Here's what a Disney sicko I am: Having my stuff stored by OL makes me feel more connected to WDW. When we recently had to cancel our trip at the last minute I was bummed out but somehow knowing my OL was there waiting for me on our next trip made me feel a little better. Sad but true.

Amen, boy do I know that feeling plus it's like Christmas everytime we open the thing. That's why we don't make a list of whats in it.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I agree, and if I feel lonesome for WDW, I just look at my inventory list of what's in my locker and start to plan what new things I'll put in it next!:rotfl:

Totally jumped on this. Bought in November and first trip not til December. I'm never gonna make it

I purchased the OL the day before the OP. I sent OL an email asking for the discount, but I haven't heard anything, yet. I wonder what will happen?

khm, if you have signed up and haven't made your first Visit, we'll cancel your Membership and have you sign up again using the link of the DVC Member site.
