Owner Locker suggestions requested

I've been interested in getting an OL since I first heard about them. I finally broke down today and decided to get one for my upcoming trip at the end of July. The following is the preliminary list of everything I'm thinking of placing in my OL when I finally get to meet it, as well as the reasoning behind some of the choices.

I would welcome any suggestions for additions or changes that will make it more useful.

I had planned to just use my mesh drawstring backpack to carry everything, regardless of which park. Do you really think I need a separate beach bag just for the water parks? (totally willing to be guided in this).

AWESOME suggestion. I have 2 I carry in my car, but since I'll be flying down for the first time it didn't even occur to me that I wouldn't have my car to have access to the kits in it!

One of my water bottles has the built in spray misters, and neither I nor my traveling companion (TC) are coffee drinkers. I appreciate the suggestion, but the mini Keurig is definitely not a needed item (for me, I can understand how others will want/need this though).

We have a Brita pitcher. We keep spare filters in our OL. I always pitch the filter at the end of the trip, since it is waterlogged and I worry about mold. I would be careful with sponges, as well. We don't have the paper plates or plasticware. We are usually in 1 or 2BR villas, so we just use the supplied plates and silverware. Plus, we don't have room for anything else! I am curious what condiments you plan to have in your container. We often buy the disposable rain ponchos in the camping section at Target or Walmart to keep in our OL. We have some Disney ones, too, but I don't like carrying around a wet poncho after the rain passes. And again, I worry about putting anything wet/moist back into the locker for storage.

In addition to many of the things you already listed, here are a few other things in our OL that we find useful/necessary:

- Tylenol and/or Advil
- Body Glide
- chip clips and/or clothes pins (for hanging wet stuff on the laundry cord)
- night lights
- plastic suction cup hooks (for drying swimsuits -- they stick to the glass surround or tile in the shower)
- color catchers (for mixed loads of laundry)
- curling iron
- Disney plastic cutting board
- sharp knife
- dishwasher pods
- shoe spray or powder
- tin foil
- stemless acrylic wine glasses
- bandaids

We have really enjoyed having our OL. It makes our luggage much lighter and it's nice to have some of the conveniences of home.

We ultimately decided against keeping our park passes in our OL simply because we typically arrive at the resort before our room is ready and we didn't want to have to open the OL before heading out to the park.

I'll second the idea for the Brita filter, we also keep filter water bottles that we use in the parks in there. I'd also add giant bottles of Advil or Aleve to your list.

Yeah, I'm worried about mold from some of the items also.
Condiments I get the individual packets of mustard, mayo, and ketchup when I eat out and save them. Also taco sauce.
The Tylenol / Aleve / bandaids are in the emergency medical kit I added last night, although a larger bottle of pain reliever wouldn't hurt. I have the dishwasher pods in addition to dishwashing detergent (pods for when we actually eat in, regular detergent to rinse out and clean the water bottles / mugs each day.)
Cutting board, knife, shoe spray, and tinfoil are all things I had overlooked. (Actually, I wondered about cutting board and knife, b/c some of the resorts I've stayed in provide them, and some don't, so I was debating including them. Same thing on including larger / better pots & pans. I'm worried about room in the locker.)

I'm thinking to keep the passes in it because right now I'm still using regular tickets. Hoping to buy an AP when I go down in Oct. So, I don't want to use a day for a half-day, if that makes sense. Also, I normally drive down, and usually arrive between 2-3 in the afternoon. By the time I do my weekly grocery shopping, the room has always been ready and so I unpack and crash til morning.

The big bottles of pain reliever are definitely going in. They keep getting re-mentioned.

personally, i would skip the towels & washcloths - there are enough in a studio for 2 ppl to shower daily (also, every resort has a laundry room), the larger villas have a washer/dryer, and DVC pools have towels. you also run the risk of the towels/washcloths winding up accidentally taken by housekeeping (it has happened fairly often).
i would delete napkins, as there are (many!) paper towels in room, as well as sponges and plastic flatware (could probably drop the paper plates also). soap is a personal preference, but there are sufficient quantities provided already (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are small tho). imho, keep the ponchos in, if you use them.

as others suggested, add the first aid kit, bag clip, small scissors, tylenol/pain reliever (i wouldn't bring a large bottle, as they will probably expire before you get to use a fraction of them).

- funnels (to pour the iced tea we made in above pitcher into our water bottles)
- plastic wrap (for reheating in microwave)

we usually stay in studios, so we have ceramic plates/bowls (thing cereal and soggy foods), flatware, and knife set in our OL.
in addition to many items on your list, ours contain:
a good (rusk) hairdryer
flat iron
conditioner
facial wash/moisturizer
body moisturizer
flashlight/batteries
large scissor, packing tape (for shipping items home)
wine glasses

when we first signed up for an OL, i added items to our list as i noticed we used them at home. it made things much easier

I have a Brita pitcher in my OL and extra filters. I take the filter out the day before we leave to dry out. I have never had any issues with mold. I wrap it in paper towels just in case and do have extras in the OL. I pack most of the over counter meds in the "tackle box." I also have one of the Disney throws that is often on promo in the stores. It's great for naps in the rooms -- we most often stay in studios. We also have small binoculars for the AK balcony, hats, (freebies from WHW). I have a small cutting board, sharp knife, and even a small George Foreman grill (again studio stayers). We also have some plastic containers for microwaving, and bags in various sizes, microwave popcorn, teas, and coffee, and coffee measurers, corkscrews for when the studio lacks it (yes I know it's supposed to be there). We also have both a long sleeved and short sleeved Disney tshirt, and ponchos, and assorted lanyards.

Definitely the power strip thingee---great for charging multiple things in one place.

tweezers, nail clippers, OTC meds (benadryl, immodium, Nyquil tabs, Motrin etc.)

I have quart sized baggies in mine too. Great for flying if something happens to the one you used on the way down.

I use hand sanitizer at WDW and keep a larger refill one in my OL along with the little ones that you can hang on your bag.

I made a list of everything in there and expiration dates of the meds. works great.

I love my OL. I love not having to pack all that junk!! lol

A couple of things I haven't seen mentioned (might have not noticed them) are a feather pillow (mine), and since we're empty nesters - I have framed pictures of kids and grandkids to place around the villa to give it a homey feel.

Based on the crock pot and Brita pitcher along with everything else that you have described, you are at 2 OL. We started with one - which now contains clothes and mostly personal drugstore type stuff -- and moved on to two. The second one contains a Keurig coffee machine, spare iDevice chargers and cables, plus all of the kitchen goods that you described. We travel as 3 so we may have more goods then you.

For the missing stuff, we have pool shoes, incognito cold glasses for taking "beverages" to the pool, personal female products, Pam cooking spray, microwave popcorn.

We just shipped a box for our upcoming - $16. Our OL, a carry on and that box ane we're set.

I was thinking towels because I'm a Pooh+ sized person and every resort I've stayed at the provided towels just don't quite work to dry all of me.
But I'll keep your suggestion in mind. The napkins, paper plates, plastic-ware, etc. is really more because I tend to be really lazy on vacation - no dishes to was just throw it all away when the meal is over. I'm not very eco-friendly I guess.

When I say "large bottle" of pain reliever, I'm really thinking small bottle. I buy in bulk at Sam's then partition my 'daily drugs' into small bottles that I keep EVERYWHERE - bathroom, kitchen, office, living room, car, at work, etc. But "bottle" as opposed to the single doses in the sealed packets.

I love the idea of some tupperware containers - never thought of that, but I'm not a coffee drinker, so the filters and supplies wouldn't apply to me.
Sewing kit is a good idea, as is the bathroom spray, but I can't use most dryer sheets or fabric softener because of allergies.
I do have real toothbrushes packed, just inside travel cases.
I'm also a 20 oz bottled pop drinker, so insulated mug is a maybe, but tea is probably a no-go. Although, TC did add dental floss and q-tips, and I added a hair brush to the list. Immodium is in the medical kit, although it is just a single dose - but not normally something I need.
Not sure about nail file or tweezers - I don't think I actually own either one. but clippers would be useful. I also don't think I'll need the magnifying mirror.
I think there are sugar/sweet n low packets in my condiment jug, but I'll double check that. And the power squid = multi-outlet strip.
Moleskin is a definite, but I'm trying to avoid clothing items until I move up to locker 2, (which may happen when I try to put the lid on PB&J - locker 1's name).
I have double duty ice packs for the day cooler, but the itch relief stuff had escaped my radar, as well as a laundry bag of some sort. And I may be cheesy, but I just drape a napkin over my plate in the microwave...

Great call on the blanket throw, I'll have to see if I can find/buy one that will fit. I think most of the rest of the suggestions (outside the grill) have already been covered, but thanks for the input. I'll have to see about the grill - space concerns. And the clothes I'm trying to hold off on putting in until locker 2.

Incognito glasses -- AWESOME PHRASING. I may have to add some just so I can hum the James Bond theme on the way to the pool!

We have also left the smallest size of aluminum foil and parchment. The parchment means you don't have to scrub the backing sheet as much, if you do any cooking in the room.

The first thing that gets unpacked from our OL is the Brita pitcher and my two ice trays.

I am kind of a pooh sized person as well, and for a trip to China, I purchased an Ann McAlpin microber towel. It is really nice sized, wraps me up well, and packs up nice and thin in a suitcase for when I stay in a studio and don't do laundry. Most of the time we are in a one-bedroom and I can wash it the night before we leave and it is totally dry in the morning. I love this thing.

Must do's for me are:

Rain ponchos - can't tell you how many we've bought and re-bought over the years
Sweatshirt - never think I'll need one, always end up buying one for those nights the temps dip
Coffee mugs - the ones in the DVC rooms are pathetically small!
Glass wine glasses - Studios often don't have them. Can't stand to drink wine out of plastic!
Swimwear - most of us own more than one suit, so no hardship keeping one at Disney
Golf Shoes/bag - this was a big one for me, as the shoes and bag tend to take up half of my suitcase.

We got our first locker last month. The locker was waiting for us upon arrival, and picked up same day we left. Friendly and efficient service.

Looking forward the next trip to all that room in my suitcase.

We have also left the smallest size of aluminum foil and parchment. The parchment means you don't have to scrub the backing sheet as much, if you do any cooking in the room.

I am kind of a pooh sized person as well, and for a trip to China, I purchased an Ann McAlpin microber towel. It is really nice sized, wraps me up well, and packs up nice and thin in a suitcase for when I stay in a studio and don't do laundry. Most of the time we are in a one-bedroom and I can wash it the night before we leave and it is totally dry in the morning. I love this thing.

This is one link I found, and it says sold out, but if you google, I bet you could find it somewhere. I have two of these and am thinking about getting a third before they are no longer available.

Thanks for the input. I just always travel with my personal towel - idiosyncrasy I guess. I figured if I left them in the box, I wouldn't have to pack them in my luggage.
Every resort I've stayed at has only provided 1 or 2 dishwasher packs, so it becomes a case of eating out to save the pack for the last day, or getting more to do the dishes.

Must do's for me are:

Rain ponchos - can't tell you how many we've bought and re-bought over the years
Sweatshirt - never think I'll need one, always end up buying one for those nights the temps dip
Coffee mugs - the ones in the DVC rooms are pathetically small!
Glass wine glasses - Studios often don't have them. Can't stand to drink wine out of plastic!
Swimwear - most of us own more than one suit, so no hardship keeping one at Disney
Golf Shoes/bag - this was a big one for me, as the shoes and bag tend to take up half of my suitcase.

We got our first locker last month. The locker was waiting for us upon arrival, and picked up same day we left. Friendly and efficient service.

Looking forward the next trip to all that room in my suitcase.

Sweat shirt is a definite maybe. lol. I'm trying to not put clothes in the box until locker #2. But I'm feeling that locker #2 may happen at the same time as locker #1! And definitely swimwear (with the same exclusions).

I haven't read all the posts and since you mostly say in a one bedroom this probably isn't necessary put I love our pop up hamper. We always stay in a studio. Makes storing dirty clothes and going to the laundry much easier.

Just read through this thread as we are talking about getting our first locker in July.

One of the things I would put in, that isn't on the list, is contact solution/case and spare pair of disposable contacts. Also an extension cord.

I'm going to copy the lists here and go from there with adding and deleting as needed for our family- like children's Advil!!
