You can buy points at the sold-out resorts either via a resale contract or direct from
DVC. DVC's current price is $89 per point with no Magical Beginnings or other promotional discounts available. Note, though, that there is a rumor that DVC may soon raise the price to $94 per point for BCV, BWV and VWL points.
The minimum you can add-on is 25 points. If you want to finance through DVC, it must be at least 50. If you buy a resale contract you have to pay cash or finance it yourself.
Just realize that you need to be a little more careful in your accounting practices if you want to manage more than one resort and/or more than one Use Year.
As HBC said, you only get the 11 month advantage for the number of points you own at a given resort. With 150 at SSR and 150 at BWV you would have a few different options. Let's assume that you want to use 300 points for a stay at BWV in 2005:
1. You could use your 150 pts from 2005 at BWV and BORROW 150 from 2006 to get 300 for booking at the 11 month window. You would then bank your 2005 points from SSR into 2006, giving you 300 SSR points to use in '06.
2. You could book as many nights as you are able at BWV with your 150 points (2005) at the 11-month window, and then when the 7-month window arrives, use your SSR points (2005) for the rest of the booking.
3. You could split your stay between the two resorts, booking at 11 months.
