Overwhelmed by Rent/Trade board

Thanks for the Pixie dust folks!! I found a DISer from Texas who was looking to rent points and it looks like we will be at the Boardwalk for 2 nights in September. If we paid cash for this room we would have paid over $500 more!! So I guess the moral of my story is that it does take some work but in the end it is worth it and it is not as overwhelming as it seems!!

We just recently rented points for the first time last month. At first it was a bit daunting. So I watched the posts for a few days and got a feel for how fast it moves, works, etc. and then started PM people with points I could use.

It took me three tries but I finally got it worked out with someone as far as dates/availablity. I usually just PM'd one person at a time and gave them a day or two to respond. Out of the 4 I PM'd 3 got back to me right away.

We leave in 10 days and everything appears to be in order. So so far I have been happy and will do it again.

Does anyone have advice for using the rent/ trade board. There are so many people there and I only need up to 37 points in September but I am worried they will not want to rent that few points. I thought about using Dave's service but I do dnot need enough points. I cannot put a rent request up as they are no longer allowed and i do not want to pm everyone with points aviable. Any suggestions from people who have used that board?

Hey, you could've asked one of your DVC friends if we have extra points to rent! I don't put points to rent on the trade board, but I would rent to a friend! Glad to hear it worked out for you!
