Hi everyone!!

First off I want to say that I really love this forum and I wanted to thank all of you for the tips that you have given me already! :grouphug:

Anyway, I have been having thoughts about how weight-friendly DLP is. I am a woman of size...around 5'7" (around 170 cm) and weigh approx 280 lbs  My main concern is that I won't be able to go on rides like "It's a small world", the haunted mansion, or dumbo...things like that :) (with another person I mean...Don't wanna sit by myself if I don't have to!!)

How weight-friendly is this park? I have only ever been to Disneyland and that was when I was a kid!! (I'm 23 now ;) )

Would really appreciate any help! Thanks guys :lovestruc

Hello!!

You won't have any problems at DLRP, so don't worry! Just have a fab time....!! I think Dumbo is probs a bit of a squash, but, like the Orbitron, it's mainly designed for one adult and a young child (I think)..... But everything else is fine and the park is very weight friendly.

When do you go???

Ok, it does depend on how you are proportioned of course, so your mileage may vary. I am 6ft2 and at my worst weighed 375lbs!!!! (thankfully now down to 301, but still a long way to go).

I have ridden everything at DLP, WDW, and DL (except Orange Stinger in Disneyland's California Adventure). I do ride Orbitron on my own or with one of my little ones. I also have to cross my ankles on the coasters (note there is more space in the front rows). Also on Star Tours and Tower of Tower, be sure to pull the seatbelt out before you sit down, it's much easier.

Crush Coaster was very tight when I rode, I was a just fit.

But thankfully, as long as the other passenger is not large too, you can ride almost everything together! If in doubt, ask the cast member at the entrance to the attraction.

Thanks so much everyone!! Really appreciate your help and reassurance!

I have avoided themeparks (I love roller coasters!) for the past few years because of this issue...I normally weigh less but after starting the pill (this may be TMI, but okay..LOL) I gained a bit of weight and now that I am writing my Uni exams I've also taken on the habit of eating while I study. NOT GOOD! lol

Anyway. I carry most of my weight in my butt and thighs...some in the belly. But I actually have to say that I'm proportioned pretty "averagely" for my weight.

Bolanette: We go from Sept 8 until the 12th and will be traveling to Paris by car from Germany :)

I think I am roughly the same proportions and I had no problems on any of the rides we went on when we were there in April. I was on BTM, Buzz, Its a Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan and always had my 2 children aged 6 and 4 with me. I even managed to swing my leg over a horse and go on the carousel:)

Lol- I know where you're coming from!! I snack while working for uni too!!

I carry nearly all extra weight below the equator -so to speak!- but I know what you mean. I had no problem on any of the DLRP rides.... :goodvibes

We go just after you, so have a fab time!!

It wouldn't be so bad if I were munching on HEALTHY things, but my brain seems to like chocolate, gummy bears and anything else with SUGAR, lol

So unfair isn't it ? i mean when is the last time you thought
" I could kill for a yoghurt " :rotfl:

Having past 40 and developing 1 or 2 medical problems along the way, I too have piled on the pounds, as a size 18/20 the rides are a little snugger than when I was a 12, but I've never had a problem, you're worrying unnessarily Melanie, I'm sure you'll have a lovely fun time. :goodvibes

:lmao: I know Jill....... One day I thought: "Oooo... I fancy an apple!" and I nearly slapped myself round the face!! I had the apple, but I made sure I had a cube of fudge just to make sure I was my normal self!!

The only ride I'd say wach out for is Orbitron.

I'm a size 12/5'3" and Jack is 6'4" but very slender (32" waist) and we were not at all comfortable in the little rockets. It was mainly to do with the fact that he has too much leg for one person though....

Agreed - give Orbitron a miss. You're not missing much in any event. Its not that there's no room, its just remarkably awkward, and inelegant!

I've done Disney at a size 22 and had no problems with anything except Orbitron. In fact its useful in some rides to be quite snug in the seat - a bit more secure!

Have been there all sizes between 12 and 22/4 its never a bother, honest.

now where did I put those blueberries? i could murder some fruit.

nah.

Helloo

I'm 5' 4" and around 290 and i have never had any trouble with DLP rides but this year they have opened up the Tower of Terror there and i REALLY want to go on it. Any Pooh sized people been on the Paris version?

Yogurt is my downfall i could eat far too many and believe me the flavours *Strudel* *Chocolate and Cream* and *honey and walnuts* are lovely and good for you. Not sure how much diet friendly but you can't have everything can you :lmao:

Melanie, my DP Brian is around 105 kg and we have done all the rides togheter - well all those he felt brave enough to try like Dumbo lol - and we have never had problems.
He even rode Orbitron on his own because i refused to go :rotfl:
You will be fine and have a lot of fun :thumbsup2

Hi ,
My Sister in law is around a size 24/26 and she went to DLRP this summer, she had no probs with any of the thrill rides, she rode Tower of Terror twice every day if thats any help to you :)

It's the turnstiles I find hard! I am a size 18 and I find it a bit of a squeeze through the turnstiles sometimes - especially when I was carrying DS in his sling! But agree that the rides are fine :)

thanks :-)

I'm disabled so i used a crutch which means no turnstyles for me..YAY! (there has to be SOME advantages lol)

Like I said, i've been on all the rides, even at my heaviest of 390! I just really, really want to go on the Tower of Terror and was just a bit worried that, as it's new, I wouldn't fit. It's a seat and belt ride isn't it?

Yes it is a seat and belt ride. Just pull the belt out all the way before you sit down and you will be fine.

This has been one of my worries this time around. I was a dancer so was a slim size 12 on my previous trips. Since haning my daughter and developing sciatica throughout my pregnancy my weight piled on. And this visit I think I am just under 14 stone. My DD is now 16 mths and still no shift in the weight!
This has concerned me as I also have a hernia above my belly :rotfl: button. And I am wondering how it will be on the coasters. I'm sure I will be ok. It never causes pain Im just aware that its there.
They joys of Pregnancy lol!!!!
