A question..we will have one overweight luggage and we are willing to pay the charge. Do we only have to pay this once, or will they charge us again on our return trip?

you will have to pay both ways if you are on an airline that even allows you to do this. Some airlines are not allowing overweight luggage. PERIOD. You must take items out at the counter to bring your bag down to the 50 pound limit. Call your airline to be sure. :sunny:

Sorry to say, but the bag is weigh each time and you are charged for each flight. Here are Continental's Charges:
Additional Baggage
Overweight Baggage
Economy Class
Checked baggage over 50 lbs (22 kg) and not exceeding 70 lbs (32 kg) will be charged at the rate of $25.00 per piece.

Checked baggage over 70 lbs (32 kg) and not exceeding 100 lbs (45 kg) will be charged at the rate of $50.00 per piece.

Baggage in excess of 100 pounds (45 kilograms) or 115 linear inches (292 cm)(total length + width + height) will not be accepted as checked baggage.

Good Luck

It is a charge for every segment so if you aren't on a non stop you will get charged twice coming and going.

Unless you are at your limit for bags per person (2 checked, 1 carryon - for most airlines)- it might be cheaper to just buy another bag, or could you ship anything rather that bring it with you?

When we flew in May our bags were fine going to WDW but coming have one was over the limit so mu DH and I had to rearrande things right there at the ticket counter to make it OK. I would bring an extra bag if possible.

I bring back so much from out disney trips now I pack an extra bag at the bottom of the suitcase. I had to purchase one the first time and it cost me $99 at the hotel gift shop just to get all my stuff home. :rotfl:

Now it is one of the things my DH says as we head out the door. Did U pack the empty suitcase?? You should see the looks from the Limo drivers that drive us to the airport. I had one say "nope all these bags had stuff in them."
