Overweight at Disney

My only problem is swimming pools and swimsuits!!!! Other than that, I haven't experienced any problems with rides or in any of the restaurants.

Thank you everyone, for months I have been worried about whether or not I would fit into some of the rides. When I was a size 18, it was hard then to squeeze into some of the rides at Canada's Wonderland. Since then I never wanted to go back. :guilty:

If there is anybody flying Air Canada, when I was 290 at 5'2 I had no problem with the seatbelts, and didn't need a seatbelt extender.:)

I read about that PMLE thing ( I think that's the abreheviation) with the red rash...Thank you to whomever submitted the web-site. I checked it out and you get the rash when your skin hasn't been explosed to sunlight in awhile. In Canada we just call that a sunburn!pirate: Who knew??? Thanks everybody, you have all really eased my mind:flower3:

Thank you all for this thread. I have previously avoided some of the rides because I didn't think I would fit. This summer, I will definitely feel more confident about riding!

staying at POP first week of July and being Pooh sized, wondered if i'll be the only Pooh sized person cooling off at the pool? Glad I found this thread, I feel better knowing fitting on the rides won't be a problem.

Not likely! People come in all shapes and sizes and they all visit WDW. Don't give it a second thought.

I second that (and yes I know this is an old thread).

I went to the water parks a few years ago when I was much heavier (like 70 pounds, and I am not thin now). Now not only was I fat - but I'm old too (60s).

I arrived with a cover-up on - and was very self-conscious. By the time I left I thought I don't look much worse than anyone else here. Honestly I saw at most about 2-3 women with cute bikini figures.

But it didn't matter at all. Everyone was there to have a good time. Enjoy!

I have not read the entire thread, but I read on one of the first pages that The Segway at Disney Quest has a weight limit. I have a couple questions about that. First what is the Segway? How do they determine who is too heavy.? Do the CM's size you up then put you on a scale to see if you are under 250? :scared1: Do they weigh you to get on? :confused3 I am right below 250, but could tip on the high side:sad2: if I am holding water because of the heat. :headache:

thanks for the responses - I will definitely dig out the bathing suit (and maybe a coverup) to relax by the pool after a hot July day at WDW.

It's been 6 years since our last visit - I'm not sure what the Segway is or what the weight limit might be.

well, both my husband and I are pooh sized, although my DS (15) is the total opposite (not sure where he came from!) and after reading this thread, I feel much better about our vacation - I've found great tips and suggestions from several of the threads.

Just wanted to reassure anyone who is worried about size/fitting on rides. Don't stress about this. I'm one of those bigger than most folks and I rode everything I wanted to without issue. My DS rode a few more things than I did and reported no problems either. Now I run 400+ and she runs around 350. We are both about 5'10 and believe me, if anyone would get "stuck" somewhere, I'd be it. The only issue at all was the turnstile at HM, just turned sideways and went through. DS, myself, and DN rode test track...what a blast. My only recommendation on that one is that if you are really, really big around the middle, make SURE you ride the front of the car in the middle...it had way more than enough seatbelt even for me. Don't worry about a thing down there, just have fun! :thumbsup2

Another Pooh Size checking in, but as I like to say I think I'm more Ursula than Pooh:goodvibes

We just left WDW on May 4th:sad1: Both DP and I are big ladies. I'm there to have a good time. I don't have a problem with rides. Like a PP mentioned sit in the front of certain things.

As far as swimming in the pool. If you don't like what you see, don't look at me. We actually went to a hotel one time and got in the pool with the kids. There were a couple of women on the pool deck watching their children and husbands in the water. Well after about 15 minutes they took of their cover ups and got in. I swear they looked at us and said "hey, if they can get in, we may as well". And DP and I were both doing hand stands in the pool at CBR 2 weeks ago. DP is much better at than I.

Have a blast!

Here we are at the Garden Grill with DS (DD is taking the picture)

thanks for the reassurance, sounds like you had fun. I don't think I'm up for handstands but I'll definitely be cooling off in the pool!

Does anyone else wear a shaper type garment under clothes while at the World? I find that for long days on my feet, it's helpful to have a long-line bra with back support, and I've been known to wear my maternity underwear with support band for my lower back. I was considering getting an all-in-one garment to wear at the park for extra back support and to smooth out my lumpiness for all those pictures, but I haven't worn any for as long as I'd wear it at WDW and was looking for suggestions! I'm a size 24 and carry most of my weight in the middle.

:lovestrucGo and enjoy! Make no apologies, enjoy your family. Life is too short! We all come in different shapes and sizes. Make memories and have the time of your life! You deserve it!!!!
