Hi all,

I just needed to know your experiences with returning items to overstock.com
I have shopped with them for years...This week I received an order for some slipcovers, but they turned out to be too dark. When I went to print a return invoice I notice they charge 4.95 per item.:sad2:

I just want to make others aware, (I wasn't), it's not printed in the order invoice or mentioned when you are shopping.

I ordered from them once. I decided the next day to just cancel it, they would not let me. Told me I had to let it ship but would allow me to return it free.. I had to fight with them to actually do it when it came time, but they did email me a postage paid address label & waved their restocking fee. Nice of them, especially since I wanted to cancel it before it even went out! I had to wait 3 weeks for them to arrive, just to send them back :confused3
then had to wait for them to credit my Visa back. All together it took 2 billing cycles... all because they do not just cancel orders.. so everyone needs to be aware of that as well... be sure you want it & pray there is nothing wrong with it.. or then your great deal is not a deal anymore, but a headach

I bought a digital camera and realized I'd made a mistake before I received it. I knew when I returned it that there was a restocking fee. That's common with electronics though.

I ordered an exercise bike, it arrived damaged...big hole in box, took forever for them to send a shipping label so I would not be charged for sending back their damaged merchandise (very heavy). Took over a month to get it straightened out. It will be a very cold day in hades before I order from them again.

The easy way to force a return without paying shipping if you haven't yet received the item is to refuse the delivery. If the UPS man comes knocking, look at the label to see who it is from and then just simply say I refuse this delivery, send it back to the shipper. If they just dropped it on your doorstep and left, you just have to drive the package to the UPS / FedEx / etc. location and tell them you refuse delivery and they'll pack it back on the truck and Overstock will be stuck with the return. The tracking number for proof of the return will be the same one the Overstock sent you. I did this once when I made an order for an entertainment center. Within an hour of ordering the one I really wanted (also from Overstock) came back into stock. I tried to call and cancel the first one, but they said I couldn't even though it had only been on order 1 hour and didn't even ship for three days. They ate a big shipping cost with the refusal for that one. pirate:
