Has anyone here ever purchased refurbished electronics from them? And if so, did you have good luck with the item you purchased?

Still looking for a very inexpensive DVD/VCR player combo and Overstock.com has several refurbished brands to choose from in the $50 or less category.. The least expensive ones I can find brand new are more than twice that amount and since it's only for the lake, I don't want to spend a lot of money..

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks! :goodvibes

Our first laptop was a refurb from there. :-) We never had any issues with it. Currently, both of our teens have refurb laptops (although not from there) and they were great, too. I also bought a watch from them and had an issue with it. Their customer service was terrific.

I have not purchased for them, but I just wanted to remind you to check out the return policy. Also I found one at our Walmart for $75. I know it's a little more than 50, but after shipping and with a manufactures warenty, it might be something you want to look at if it is avalible in your area.

I had an inexpensive phone I bought from them, not refurb, but it had a cracked base. No problem sending it back and the refund, it was aggrivating though.
I just never found anything else I could not find on sale to order again.

Did you look at Sears online?

Not specific to refurbed electronics, but I buy a lot from Overstock.com and have always been pleased. Other places I check out when buying electronics online are Frys.com, newegg.com, tigerdirect.com (circuit city's outlet) and refurbdepot.com.

Thanks! I'll check out those places tomorrow..

With the S&H only being $2.95 - no matter what the size of your order at Overstock - I thought if I went ahead and purchased from them I might look for some other items I need as well..

I've purchased a lot of stuff from Overstock. In fact, just today got a new 8' x 11' area rug delivered from them. But I've only purchased one refurbed electronic item from them, and unfortunately it had problems and I had to send it back. It was a digital camera I'd purchased for my daughter for her birthday. It wouldn't turn on half the time. I was extremely pleased with their return policy. They sent me a prepaid return mailing label and I just had to drop it off at a UPS store. They refunded my money with no questions at all.

From time to time, I see vcr/dvd combo players at goodwill for around $20. I think that people are upgrading to blu-ray players, so there may be more of these being donated. Worth a try for $20. Our goodwill has a few day return policy on electronics.

We got a refurb DVD/VCR player from overstock.com and haven't had any problems at all. It's several years old now. :)

That's good to hear.. :) Also the info from the poster who said their return was easy with a prepaid shipping label..

I have to make my decision soon, so I think maybe I'll give them a shot..

Thanks to all who replied! :goodvibes
