Overlooked Disney Gems/things to do

When we were at DCA on Monday the 29th the Tratorria was closed. Going again on the 5th and will check what is going on but I heard rumors it was closing permanently

Is this done on a daily basis? Is it listed in the times guide? My munchkin would LOVE this!!!!

It seems to be done daily (always has been when we are there), it is not in the guide. Just show up at Coke Corner a little before 2:30. :thumbsup2

Anyone have any other hidden gems?
I like watching the candy being made at The Candy Palace. :thumbsup2

Tips on How to Find Your Favorite Candy on Main Street, U.S.A.

Oh no! I hope that's just a rumor. The most recent reopening date is Jun 9. Even though WCT is closed, the wine bar is still open for tasting (or at least it was in Jan).

ooo, I thought of another one. At night by Pixie Hollow where King Tritan used to be (that area) every 15 minutes or half hour (not positive which), the lights in the trees start blinking to music and change colors so it looks like the pixies are flying around.

The movie theater on Main Street (best air conditioning, helps that it's dark too) and the player organ in the arcade (love listening to Chim Chim Cheree at the end of the evening).

During summer (till about mid-August) the All American College Band plays at DL. It's a band assembled each summer from top players from marching bands around the country. At each performance they make it a point to introduce each player and announce what school they're from. Some great music, Disney and otherwise, e.g. Tower of Power, Chicago, and Earth Wind & Fire.

Actually they're from different colleges, not necessarily marching bands. As a matter of fact, sometimes one of the biggest challenges in the first few weeks is getting some of the musicians used to moving and playing at the same time! But they put it all together and they ARE very talented. They should be performing by now this summer-they usually start about mid-June.

Where is "Coke Corner" and when does the Mad Hatter do musical chairs...been going to DLR for a long time and have never done this--sounds like fun!
thanks!

oops, just saw the time for musical chairs, but still wondering where Coke Corner is--Main St.?

We always enjoy a trip to the animation building in DCA, but something we like that I think a lot of people miss is the animation studio where you can learn to draw a Disney character. It's a great break on a hot day, fun to do, and never over-crowded. It's easy enough for kids to follow, but fun for adults, too. My DD has done it since she was 6 or 7. We often do it more than once, as they frequently change up the characters they teach you to draw.

Yes, Coke Corner is on Main Street, the very last corner on your left as you are walking towards the castle :flower3:.

They have great chilli dogs and bowls of chili here. We often get a late bite when everything else is closed.

thanks! I have been there, just didn't know it was called Coke Corner!

No one has said the Billy Hill show. Love going in there to get cooled off and have that awesome mile high chocolate cake. HUGE slice that can feed at least four people and it's only $6! Gotta show up early, both to get seats and to get food.

Also, Riding in the very front of the monorail. Sometimes you have to wait through a couple of monorails, but way cool.

Most of my other ones have already been said.
I enjoy wandering around DtD during the evening and listening to all the live entertainment.

In case anyone else wants the list, I began a compilation for myself. I used to have a list of 100 things to do in DL and 50 for DCA (other than attractions). I'll have to see if I can find it.

Flag Retreat (daily, evening)
Stop, sit, and listen to the Disneyland band
Visit Snow White’s wishing well
Coke Corner: Musical chairs with the Mad Hatter (and other entertainment)
Visit the magic shop and be amazed by the magic of a Disney CM
Don't miss Farley The Fiddler. He plays on the front porch of the Davy Crockett Pioneer Mercantile (on the left as you enter Frontierland). He is usually there Monday - Friday, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30.
Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk through
Ride the Main Street Vehicles
“Pilot” the Mark Twain Riverboat
Ride “up front” on the monorail
Ride tender on the train
Ride in the Lilly Belle carriage
Watch the candy makers on Main Street
Movie Theatre on Main Street
layer organ in the arcade

DCA: Port & chocolate tasting. It's $12 and you sign up at the wine bar in Wine Country Trattoria. You usually do this at the granite bar but when it wasn't busy, we were able to move to a little table nearby after we'd heard all of the info. I believe the tasting times are noon - 4. ask about the Magicale wine that is made in Italy exclusively for the Disney resort
DCA: Animation building

Here's a few more:
1) Take a picture in front of the flowering Mickey Mouse upon going through the turnstiles.
2) Enter Disneyland through the left tunnel and read the plaque that says: "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy."
3) At City Hall, ask about the Trashcan Trio's schedule.
4) Check out the penny arcade on main street.
5) Have a piece of Candy at the Candy Palace on Main Street.
*Dark chocolate covered honey comb
*Rocky road
*Haystacks

I have never heard about the magic show before! WHERE IS IT LOCATED? Sounds super cool and I know my DS would really love it! The others are on my todo list when we go soon!

It's in the Magic shop on Main street, "Houidini's Magic Shop".
