Overlapping resort stays?

Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with overlapping resort stays? We’re booked into Pop Century for 9 nights in Feb, but staying at Grand Floridian for 2 of those nights as a birthday treat for my mother (not checking out of Pop). Both of my reservations are fully paid for and are linked on MDE, but only Pop is showing under “resort hotel”. Both are showing in “my future plans”. I’m just wondering if it could potentially cause any problems, for example with the extended evening hours for GF etc. I'm thinking to avoid any glitches we should avoid the advance check in for GF on MDE, and just check in at the desk and ask for key cards to unlock the room. But still not sure if the bands will pick up the GF stay if we want to use the extended evening hours. If anyone has any similar experiences or can foresee any other problems please let me know. Thanks in advance!

You May have a problem. We always do split stays where we leave one resort and check into another. I know for a fact it will not let me check in to the next resort if we don’t call down or physically check out of the first resort. You can’t be checked in to 2 at the same time. Just my experience (many times). Just this past September I called as we were leaving AKL and told them I need to check out and she told me no need it will automatically check you out at 11. I told her she needed to check me out because I need to check in at poly and she kind of blew me off. Sure enough when I got over there she told me even though I did online check in it was not giving me my room because I was never checked out of AKL.

We did this with the Swan and Galactic Starcruiser last month. It was crazy, but it was a better deal for us to keep the Swan hotel for the two nights we were on the Starcruiser because of a package.
I ran into one aggravating issue and that was making dining reservations for 60+x days. The dining system saw we were at the Swan for night 1. Then it saw the Starcruiser for nights 2 and 3. So I could have made reservations those nights. But when we checked out of the Starcruiser, it thought we were no longer onsite. I called twice. They saw the bug and offered to let someone on the phone set my reservation - but they couldn't override it. It escalated and I was told they'd fix it and I'd see it in the app. It was never fixed. And we ended up having to use Touring Plans to find the reservations we wanted later.

So, I was all fired up. I didn't want the same issue when I went to get ILL for Guardians. So I went to guest services to make sure it was ok. Apparently this was only a dining issue. They knew I was staying at the Swan, so I had access to everything at the parks. Did not have any issues with the onsite perks once we were there.

So, I don't know if this was an issue because it was the Swan and not a Disney property.. or if they fixed the issue. But the rest of it worked well for us.

The usual strategy would be to put the other room in M. Mouse or something like that. BUT, M. Mouse won't have tickets, so it won't link up for the extended hours. But, M. Mouse doesn't need a ticket to book dining.

I'd put the GF with your real, ticketed MDE, and put M. Mouse in the Pop with a keycard.

BUT, Disney doesn't let you change lead guest on cash bookings, so, uh, you've got a pickle. I would call and ask how they think you should handle it.
