This is the third time I've shopped at Aldi, and when I got home I realized they charged me for 4 items when I only bought two. I guess I don't know how to handle the situation..do I just go in with the receipt and tell them - how do I prove I only bought two?

I have had that happen to me once or twice. I went back with the receipt and told them what happened & they gave me my money back. If they have security cameras, they should be able to verify it if they're really concerned about it.

Now I've learned to check my receipt before I even leave the store.. I would say about 1/4 of the time I have to go to the customer service desk to have a price fixed or what not.

Those cashiers are to fast sometimes lol

Which one in NJ did you go to?

How expensive was the item? How far away is Aldi's? Will you be in the area or have to make a special trip? All of these play a part in my decision of going back or just forgetting about it.

Thanks guys! I usually do check the receipt and the funny thing is she knew she overcharged me at the time because we went over everything I bought to make sure all was ok, so I didn't think I needed to check the receipt again, but when I got home and was going to throw it out, that's when I looked at it and realized it was wrong:sad2: It's about a $5.50 overcharge, no biggie really, but it just annoys me. The Aldi's I go to is about a 15 minutes ride (West Long Branch). I will be near that way tomorrow, but would have to go out of my way a little bit, but I might just stop in.

Sorry to hear this, hate it when it happens what a pain...

Ok not to be rude, but you all must STOP, LOOK AT RECEIPTS BEFORE LEAVING

Everyone say it with me stop, look at receipts before leaving...

I would just put it in my walet and ask them to fix it next time i go back to that store....

I've had this happen to me a couple of times at Aldi's. One time I got home and noticed that I had been charged for 10 bags of carrots when I only bought one. I took the receipt with me the next time I was in the store and the lady did give me the refund, but told me it was an exception. If the receipt is wrong, I need to catch it before leaving the store. I always check the receipt now, before I bag my groceries. I agree that they do sometimes go too fast when checking out the groceries, and mistakes can happen.

Call and talk to a manager, let them know what happened and that you won't be able to come right back but you'd like refund when you do come back. Get their name and when you go back you should have no problems. :) I've done that at other stores, not Aldi's, we don't have them here.

I don't know about your stores but here in Ct Aldi's doesn't list their phone number on 411 so if you have to reach them you need to get the number from the store. It isn't on the receipt here either.
I bought 4 packages of mushrooms for $2.49 each and when I got them home to cook them they were black inside. They looked great on the outside, but the inside was black and mushy.
I live about 45 minutes away and it was snowy so I just tossed them when I couldn't get through on the phone. I had to get my son to rin to the corner store and buy more since I was making something for my family and needed them right then. They were only $1.59 a box at the supermarket near me.
I went back 3 days later when the snow was managable and I had the time and they wouldn't give me anything back since I had the receipt but not the mushrooms to show them.

OP here, just an update: headed back to Aldi's today and took back my receipt. As I was walking thru the store I asked one of the employees what happens in the situation of an overcharge. She looked over my receipt, took it to the front of the store to the cashier, (so I could keep shopping) and brought me back my refund...no hassle whatsoever. I was really pleased!

They charged me for 2 dozen eggs when I only bought 1 dozen. I didn't even want to bother with it for the $1 or so over charge. I really check my receipts from Aldi now though. Lesson learned.

I have had this happen at Aldi's and at other food markets. I never had a problem returning the store for a credit. But, I always called the store as soon as I realized the mistake.
