Sad thing about this is, I'm a former Travel agent, and graduate of the Disney College of Knowledge, but I rarely used to book Disney and if I did, it was just "They want this, for these dates, that's the price, great lets book it" :thumbsup2

Now that it's my own money I'm a little more cautious!!! I'm also another one that likes to analyze the numbers. (just go down four paragraphs if you want to skip my *blah...blah...blah* and get to the numbers ;))

Personally I've only been to Disney once, had to wait till 22 on my honeymoon and made the poor decision to stay off property (got swayed by the name HOJO Enchanted land, SO not enchanted there!!!) because I was working for a travel supplier/wholesaler and got it at a good price, didn't even think to check on property, would have been almost the same price!!

Anyways before I loose you to boredom, we're looking at October 18th to 23rd for my family (me/DH/DD6) and my parents who have never been (I'm sort of forcing them, they tried to back out last week, I brought out the tears :rolleyes1)

I have a 20/30/40 pin code and called to just put that on hold with the POP figured it would be the best place to start and hope for a better deal to come up. First person I spoke to seemed a little clueless, I called back again and spoke to someone who said she would look around for a deal for me. She came back with a different booking code (said she has like 1200 different ones). And by changing us from the Music to POP the price dropped, she said the deal was room only, tickets on another file.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a good deal and if I'm calculating this correct. It seems quite low for something that I didn't give a pin for! Rack rate according to mousesavers for our time is $105/$115/night. And we've got $73.50 the first 4 nights and $80.50 the last night. That's $374.50 for 5 nights STD room at the POP. it works out to be 30% off. $705 for the 2AD1CH 6 day no hop tickets on top. QSDP $370. Total $1449.50 plus taxes.

If the free dining comes out, is it correct that we will have to go up to the $105x4 and $115x1 to get it. Which would be $535 and we'd get the free QSDP I'm assuming as that's what this year was and then add the tickets into the package $705. Total $1240.00 plus taxes (1310 inc. taxes on the website)

Is that right? Thank you! :cool2:

Free Dining in a Value resort is the best deal you can get.
Disney only permits one discount, so you can not have a room discount AND free dining.

Since rooms in the Values are relatively inexpensive your better deal is going to be in a more pricey resort. Values are usually not deeply discounted because they don't have too many problems filling them up. The moderate might not be that much more than the value with your pin code, and you get so much more.

There is a package upsell on those RO codes, and I suspect the prices they gave was with a pin. If you are going to do at least one sit-down meal per night of stay then the dining plan will cost you less than paying out of pocket for the same food. You can eat cheap at Disney but you are not traveling in any sort of style and are consuming a lot of sandwiches or food court meals.

With the promo that just came out, its the same as the pins for most resorts. Disney has a history of regurgitating the same info into a different name and launching a new promotion. Your pin might be the lowest price you get so be happy with what you book now as you may not be able to change it later.

If you are a member of AAA check out the room rates on the AAA sit. I got a great rate on a room at the ASM in the fall of $69.00 and could not believe it.

Thanks for your reply!

Foodwise, we've gone through all the menu's and are only planning sit down meals for 2 nights (and we'll save those QS meals for breakfasts).

I'll fiddle with the pricing on the moderates with the 30% off and see what I come up with.

Thanks!

We're actually in Canada, so we have CAA, not sure if that would help us at all though? :confused3

You got a great deal and I'd hold on to it for now, but remember it is a while until your trip and any sort of deal or PIN may come out before then. For example, this past fall I got a PIN for $55 values and $69 mods. It was for very select dates over the course of just two months and I only received it within two months of when the PIN began, but none of that matters if it falls within your dates and you have time to change your ressie. If rooms are not filling up as your dates approaches, who knows, another code like they may go out. Also, as you mentioned, free dining will save you money. Keep what you have now and then change it to a better deal if you get the chance.
