Over the river and through the FUN!

Maybe all the animals were on vacation. (in Tennessee)

I haven't seen any giraffes or elephants on the loose around here lately, but it's a possibility.

I hear ya MeMom...I've never had an overly exciting Safari! I mean, I still think they're great as I love animals and am excited for a glimpse! But I've never had an elephant block the path, or a hippo try to get on the tram or anything! ;) You still got some great photos though! I really enjoy the flamingos! If I were a bird, I would definately want to be pink!

I don't know if I've gotten spoiled by good safaris, but I really do think that one was less than average.

The flamingoes/flamingos (both are correct, but I don't like the way either of them looks when written) are pretty, aren't they? I'd like to get a good close-up shot of them, but we're always flying by.

Is it just me or does it look like the birds are trying to eat the hippo?

No, I thought it too!

Same here!

They eat insects off the hippos' backs.

I really enjoyed your Safari piccies - we skipped it during our trip in November. I was too worried about the warnings of riding during pregnancy so didn't go on it and I really missed it!

Mum and I didn't do a lot in AK, it was our last full day of the holiday and think we were ready for home - silly I know and you'll think I'm crazy! But we were missing our hubbies and were just, you know, ready for home time. I had an ADR at Yak and Yeti, which I loved but Mum didn't so much. I think if it wasn't for that and me saying it'd be a fantastic meal, we might have skipped AK altogether - we only saw the Lion King and ITTBAB!!!

So you must put up more piccies!!!

Julie xxx

Yeah, it would take a lot to make me rather go home than do Animal Kingdom all day, so I guess you have some very special guys. You are very blessed.

I hope to see it in January! :thumbsup2

Our safari wasn't too exciting either this past time - the most thrilling thing was an ostrich in the road that held up the truck in front of us. Hopefully this next time we'll get a good safari with lots of animals.

I love the pic of your truck in the mirror-very creative!

You know, if I say on here that we've been held up by an ostrich before (and we have), you guys know exactly what I mean, no questions asked.

In the real world, if I said we were held up by an ostrich, I would have people whispering behing my back and walking the other way when they saw me coming down the hall. :rotfl:

We're back, and i'm just catching up! Mom saw so many mousefest people, she wants to join the DIS!

Put her on! Be sure she comes over and joins us!

Did you meet Mike?

I love the photo of the cheetah -- I don't think I have actually managed to see one while on safari.

They're usually hard to spot - way up in the back and laying down. I've caught them up and walking only twice.

I'm all caught up.
Was Drew unable to go due to his injuries, or was he not planning to go?

Drew had missed so much work that he had to stay here. Besides needing to work lots of hours, it was that crazy Black Friday weekend, and there's probably no way they would have let him escape anyway. Hopefully, he can go next summer, at least for part of the time. He enjoys WDW when he's down there, but he really likes going lots of different places, so it's not like he doesn't get to go places and do things. He and his buddies load up and go to Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Ohio, and anywhere else they can find to go to bike competitions and car shows and stuff.

Our middle-school friends came today and sang carols with the kids and gave them snacks and little gifts. They brought paper bags full of balls, books, pens, colored pencils, chapstick, and stuffed animals - all just cheap and donated items - but our kids loved it all! They loved the attention from the big kids, and I introduced one of my students, who is nuts about football, to the high school football coach. He was in awe of him, and they had their picture made together. The little girls loved their little plush pets and got very busy giving them names. It was a nice afternoon.
The kids were hyper, of course, so I wouldn't have enjoyed being a bus driver today.
Then again, I wouldn't want to be a bus driver any day!

I think that has happened to us too!! We were also kind of held up by the guys that look kind of like cows, with the huge freaky horns. I find them adorable, in a really strange way, but they were SO close to the truck that it almost felt like I could've reached out and petted one.

That's so cute about the middle school kids coming to see your class, I would have loved that in third grade. The middle schoolers always seemed so much older and sophisticated when I was that age. Now, when I go to Kailyn's orchestra concerts and the middle school plays as well, all I notice is how tiny and young-looking they are!

We are finally getting some of the snow that you guys had. It was snowing/raining this morning, and on the weather channel, they had been saying that it would warm up in the afternoon and everything would melt, so "you won't even know that it snowed!" Instead, it went from warmer to much colder, so all the slush is now ice. Now there's supposed to be a storm on Friday, but I don't know when exactly it's supposed to hit us--it keeps on changing. I was asked to work tomorrow, but I said no, because I have a final. It's only from 8-10 AM but I didn't tell them that part. I'm just not ready to deal with the snow craziness yet.

Back to studying. Have a good night and have a good Thursday!

:offtopic: but just so everyone knows the BEST is pineapple and banana peppers!!!! And it HAS to be Papa Johns...no one else can do that one justice!

It is the best mix I have ever had on a pizza....just try it somtime. If you like the sweet/salty thing I PROMISE you will love it!

ok...back to the parade

i've had it before, with some ham thrown in...for me pizza isnt pizza without some type of meat :rotfl:

I've had many, many crazy dreams, and some of them have been like you said, crossing people and places over into each other. You wake up and wonder why X from work was at your church and why your church was in another city and why that city was all covered in purple leaves or something crazy and why yesterday was really happening tomorrow.
Not that I've ever had that dream, but that's just something wild enough that I would dream it.

I'd love to know what dreams really mean, if they really do mean anything.
i've had some pretty scary nightmare about my ex... i wake up from them and i cant get back to sleep. its really horrible. and then last night i had a terrible nightmare that something bad happened to one of my friends i use to go to middle school with...CREEPY!:scared1: :headache:

So when you come through Nashville going to Disney World, and it's not in the middle of the night, we'll meet at a pizza place!
my boyfriend wouldnt pass pizza up. so im sure he'd make sure we'd stop :lmao:

We have a CiCi's close, too, but my favorites are Papa John's and Pizza Hut. We rarely order pizza - maybe for a group thing, but not on a regular basis.
boy do i miss CiCi's. But they have a good little pizza shop that has unbelievable pizza. and since im so close to chicago i want to try chicago pizza. i've heard its good but i'll have to see for myself.

Hi there! I love the pink hippo pic. He (she???) looks so sleepy and peaceful...hids how mean and nasty they really are. ;) I bet you had a wonderful day....first days at Disney always are cause the end isn't looming so near.

Speaking of dreams, I had a terrible dream last night. I think it was due to watching the last episode of Jon and Kate Plus Eight.....when they go to St. Judes hospital. It really got me cryin....did you see it?? :confused3

They eat insects off the hippos' backs.

Hmm....learn something new everyday! I didn't know that.

Glad your kiddos had a good time! I totally agree about not wanting to be a bus driver! ;)

2 bits of news: 1 happy, 1 bad.

Bad news first: In the small town next to where I teach, there was a bus accident. There where about 50 kids on board at the time. They had to take the kids to 3 different hospitals. So please keep those families in your prayers.

On to the good news: We got ressies for CRT! Yay! :cool1: It was DH idea, and I know Hannah will love it!

Drew would help you eat the one with peppers. He's all about hot and spicy stuff.

No it's not spicy....you will have to try it!! It's more of a sweet/salty taste. If you like pinapple on pizza then you will like it!

I enjoy spicy things, but mexican please, and sometimes chili :upsidedow

Suuure you have.
I think a psychiatrist would offer you his couch if you told him that!
Yet we, here on the wonderful Disboards, totally understand,
and we believe it is true!

Be careful in the snow. Hang in there with the studies. You'll get a break soon!

So pizza it is, whenever you come through.

I've had that happen to, where people I haven't seen or thought about in years pop up in a dream.
Fortunately, I haven't had any scary dreams in a long time - just weird ones.

Yes, we did have a good day. We start our trips with Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom. Since we knew we were opening Magic Kingdom the next day, and Brooklynn wouldn't understand us not being able to sweep through Fantasyland midday, like we always do in the mornings, we just went on to Animal Kingdom. It was my goal to see the Jingle Jungle parade, so we went ahead to AK so I could mark that off my list of Christmas things I wanted to do. The parade was a great start to the holiday mood.

Hmm....learn something new everyday! I didn't know that.

It's a real wonder there aren't more bus wrecks. Our kids are nuts when they get on the buses, and how a bus driver can concentrate on the road is beyond me.

Congratulations on booking a special meal for Hannah! That was sweet of her daddy to think of that!

The little kids and big kids seemed to have a good time. We've done this for about five or six years now with the school my kids went to.

My little football player is huge for a third-grader, and he will probably play high school football and do quite well, if he can keep his grades up. He struggles some, and that could be a problem. He is fortunate, though, in that he has parents who believe and support him and the teacher. They don't just blame his grades on something I'm doing or make excuses, like so many do. They actually hired a tutor, and they were going to take him off the city league football team if he didn't give his best efforts. I told them not to take him off for bad grades, because he really doesn't comprehend some of the stuff, but that I would let them know if he wasn't giving his best efforts. There's a big difference in bad grades and poor effort, and I hated to see him lose football when he really was trying.

This is the last full day of school.
That means Christmas parties.
They are fun.
They are loud.
They are memorable. :jumping1:

You guys have a Thrilling Thursday, too!

Morning to all!
Well I'm officially a day older, my bday was yesterday. We had Chinese food and cake for dinner. I got 2 new handbags and lots of Tinkerbell stuff. (I even had Tink wrapping paper) I watched the Tinkerbell movie with Lexi, how cute is that movie! :cutie:

MeMom what a special thing for the older kids to do for your students. I'm sure they were on cloud nine...:cloud9:

I  safari pics!!!

Happy Elf what a terrible thing to happen to those families. I will keep them in my prayers. I hope they all recover from thier injuries in time for Christmas. :grouphug:

HAVE FUN AT YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY TODAY AT SCHOOL!!!

do you not have school tomorrow or just not a full day? Patrick's christmas party is tomorrow and I am in charge of rounding up treats. We will be baking cupcakes tonight but I am going to wait on frosting them...

they are predicting in our part of Iowa about 1/4 inch of freezing rain followed by 3 inches of snow (which would likely cancel school tomorrow). Southern Iowa will get it worse, up to 1 inch of freezing rain :scared1: . Our friends in the NE can relate to how awful that ice can get. Schools to our far south are already calling early outs for today. Looks like the ice will extend over to Illinois too.

I'm watching the news right now and seeing Las Vegas got 3 inches of snow! I saw last night that Flagstaff AZ (I miss you :sad1: ) got 16 inches the other day and are expecting another 12 inches today

No ostriches or crazy-horned cows out there today but watch out for that nasty weather and stay safe everyone!

I wish I'd have known! Oh, I'm glad you had a nice day though! Can't get much better - handbags, good food, family and tinkerbell! :)

Oh man! We had the ice this past weekend, it was NUTTY. Our church had to postpone the kids' Christmas program to this Sunday. I haven't watched the news recently, I sure hope we aren't getting another dose of it. Stay safe!!!!

Oh, I hate to break it to you but on the noon news, they indicated blizzard conditions this weekend in the dakotas and Minn.

Hi MeMom ... Hi Brooklynns Mommy.. I have been so busy as of late. To make matters worse, I have come down with something awful. I tried to get on the dis yesterday but could not even bear to look at the computer screen. I am feeling a little better (Thank Goodness).. I enjoy the pictures of the Jingle Jungle parage. Brooklynn was doing her little stance again with her pictures with Jiminy.. Priceless!!! We are supposed to get some really bad weather here tomorrow so I may be able to work from home.. that means more dis.
For those of you that are going to be experiencing bad storms tomorrow... Be SAFE!!!

With any luck, I will be able to make it work tomorrow night and the roads will be plowed/sanded/salted. Or, if not, they'll hopefully let me call out. I only live about 1.5-2 miles from where I work, but I wouldn't be willing to walk there in a storm, and since we live on a side street, we're usually among the last ones to get plowed and sanded.

As of 9:15 AM (when I finished my final) I'm on break until January 22! I almost don't know what to do with myself. :rotfl:

Speaking of dreams, I had a terrible dream last night. I think it was due to watching the last episode of Jon and Kate Plus Eight.....when they go to St. Judes hospital. It really got me cryin....did you see it?? :confused3

I forgot to answer you, but yeah, I did see the Jon & Kate Plus Eight episode where they went to St. Jude. I've kind of quit watching that show much, because Kate is just getting too much for me to listen to. The kids are cuties, but Jon needs to get a job, not make that show his job, in my opinion. Kate seems to think that she's an expert mom, and she has said about five times on shows I was seeing, "At my request, they did such and such," or "I asked for it to be this and that way," as if she's some demanding diva that everybody has to please. She's just a mom who happens to have a lot of kids, and it makes her no more of an expert than someone with one or two. There are other people with more than eight. We've got some at our school. It doesn't give a person a right to think of themselves as some kind of star. I do appreciate that they went to St. Jude and took toys. If they are making a good living off the show, then it's time for them to give back and/or give to others, so I was glad to see that. That's really why I tuned in to that one, because it looked on the commercials like it might be something positive and productive.

I hope that wasn't being ugly. I used to like the show, but it seems like it's kind of gone to their heads. I kind of feel the same way aboutt he Roloff series. It started off as one thing and has changed to something else.

HAVE FUN AT YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY TODAY AT SCHOOL!!!

You could have taken a picture of your loot to show us!!!

I haven't seen the Tinkerbell movie. I haven't even asked Jill if she's gotten it for Brooklynn. I'll have to find out.

I'm sure there will be a lot of families who will have a very nice Christmas just having their kids home safe and healthy this year.

We made it through the party. We had so much junk. We just told all the kids to bring in whatever they wanted, and we put both rooms' stuff together. We had four kinds of drinks, lots of kinds of chips, cookies, cupcakes, candy...a complete sugar factory. They were extra excited because the student teacher we had earlier came back to see them. Her second assignment was a Pre-K class, so she said our kids looked so tall now compared to what she's been used to.

Half day tomorrow.
Some of them won't show up.
The wild ones will.
They always do.

I haven't kept up with what the weather is doing everywhere. School has just been so crazy busy that I work and crash and not much in between. Well, a little Dising to calm the nerves.
Maybe over the break I can see what is going on in the rest of the world.

I did see on the news that one of the women shot in that attack in India is from right here, and she happens to be the lady that used to do our crafts at summer camp. She's back home now, and she seemed to be in very good spirits when the news guy interviewed her.

She said that when they figured out they were getting shot at, they played dead. She said the young guy that came around to them just shot into them, even though for all he knew, he was shooting already dead bodies. That's when she was shot in the back.

:cake: :jumping1:

Happy Birthday

I would be excited, but as much sweet stuff as I've seen today, I can't be happy about it right now. I'm thinking a nice birthday casserole is sounding good! ;)

Chinese and handbags! Wow! That's like my perfect birthday present!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday for yesterday!

Chinese sounds good, too.
Pineapple chicken, orange chicken, cashew chicken...

:yay: :yay: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :yay: :yay:

Wow, sounds good to me too! What a great birthday!

Whenever I see the men down there with their Goofy hats or Mickey ears or t-shirts they'd never wear at home, I wonder what they do for their jobs, and I wonder what their co-workers would say if they saw them letting loose like that.

Oh, I hate to break it to you but on the noon news, they indicated blizzard conditions this weekend in the dakotas and Minn.

I think we're lucky to live in an area that gets four distinct seasons, but not anything too intense during any of them. We've had some wicked heat waves occasionally, and we've had a few ice storms, but for the most part, we don't get anything horrible for any length of time.

Sorry to hear you've been down.

I'm happy to say that rain is the worst thing we have going on here right now, and I second the 'Be Safe' message to all of our friends. Stay home, if you can, and stay warm!

CANADIANWDWFAN - Happy (late) Birthday!

Here's Brooklynn practicing that hands behind the back pose in the van before we left the driveway.

She's a crazy girl.

With the safari completed, we shopped our way out of the park.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SENT ME THIER BEST WISHES, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!:tinker:

We are expecting a major snow storm in the next few days, the news has called it "snowmageton". :rotfl: I hope I can get to work, or at least out of my driveway.

MeMom I would put up pics but I still don't have my new camera yet, soon I will be able to share along with you all. I can't wait. ;)

New shopping pics, Yippee!!! I would definitely wear that Santa Mickey hat. The snowman Mickey is adorable, I want one.

Brooklynn has such a cute smile while she posed in the back of the van.
