We just got a new one to match our new stove since that broke We ended up getting the Whirlpool WMH31017AS. Fabulous reviews. Sears has it on sale for $199. We priced matched at Lowe's though since my husband works there So far we love it.
I have a microhood, which is what I believe the name is for the over the range units since they have the ventilation fan built in.
We have had a microhood for the last 31 years. First one was a Litton and lasted 22 years. Our second was a GE and a circuit board went bad at the 6 year mark, the part alone was $195, a whole new unit was $205. We have had our current Kenmore (made by LG) for 6 years, works fine. We are remodeling and are just trying to make use of kitchen work space so you don't have one person trying to use the microwave and another person the stove at the same time, so we are getting a drawer microwave, a Sharp, 3 times as expensive.
I posted my problem finding NON- stainless steel microwaves, makers are switching completely over. Not a fan, not looking forward to smudges and finger prints. I know some don't thing that will be a problem, but as the appliance saleman put it, "there is a reason there are 50 or 60 different stainless steel appliance fingerprint removal products on the market"

Thank you! We were hoping to stay around $200 and the reviews are pretty good. I think this may be the one.
Much cheaper than what we saw in the stores, even at our local Sears. This model is online at Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, Amazon, and other stores, but not at any of the B&M stores. The cheapest one we saw at the store was $249.
The Dacor ones are $1,400. And Sharp makes those for Dacor, everything but the front panel which is the only part Dacor makes themselves.
We got our Sharp for $800. We'll see how it works out. Right now my kitchen has nothing but wiring and plumbing, no sheet rock, or even a ceiling. So it will be a month or two before our Sharp is installed an in use.
Check out Best Buy's site. Shops & Deals > Clearance & More > Appliances. It shows the stock in stores in your area. We were able to get one with good reviews for $90 recently. Stock varies, but it's worth taking a few minutes to look.

AAAKKKKKK! I bought one (3 actually) from BB open box and it was a nightmare. Just ask my contractor.
One thing I didn't realize was that my old microwave was not vented to the outside.
So when we got the new one, well, after returning 2 to BB and finally getting one that was not 'open box', we had them vent it to the outside. So now when I put the fan on, the smoke actually goes outside! And as an added bonus, it is sort of chilly in the microwave (not enough to cause heat in the house to be lost thru it) so if I want to defrost something, I leave it in there overnight. Perfect! (in the winter).
I know a lot of people have problems with fingerprints on Stainless Steel, but we have had our GE microwave for over 6 months and we have never had fingerprint problems. Not sure if it is a certain type of stainless steel on our GE brand, but it always looks clean. We love it.
I have a Bosch, and it's fine. I personally don't think any of them are great as far as exhaust capability. I'm always wiping down the front of it when cooking something steamy. Another feature that my previous one had that this doesn't is I can't microwave something and use the timer for something else. Very annoying when you want to multi task.
