In the event that it is needed, can otc meds be purchased on property? Such as childrens cold/cough or pain/fever reducer, antacids etc... What about bandaids and first aid ointment?

Don't really want to haul the medicine cabinet with me as when I do that we never need it and when I don't, well you know how that goes :rotfl:

Just curious, thanks.....

We stayed at CSR last week and saw all of those things in their resort shop. They had a better variety than I had expected, but it certainly wasn't WalMart! They also had things like boxes of doughnuts, milk (quarts and half gallons), juices, sodas, alcohol, etc. Kind of like what you'd see in a convienence store/gas station. I don't know if all resorts are like that though. CSR is the only one I've ever been to.

I just carry all that in a quart Ziploc that mostly stays in our room safe. Just put one of the sealed pill "cards" of each product in the baggie, not the whole pkg. (Write all the dosage info for everything on a laminated card that is kept in the bag). For things that don't come in chewable form, I still buy infant bottles of kiddie meds for travel; I just check with the ped ahead of time for the correct dosage for my kids' weight.

I keep a 3-day supply of about 8 ordinary OTC meds and basic first aid items in that bag; it's no bigger than a paperback, and I prefer having the meds I like with me when we need them; as opposed to having to settle for whatever might be available.

BTW, park shops have a variety of tiny packages of OTC meds available behind the counter. They sell for about $2/dose, if you are really desperate.

The OTC medications are VERY expensive. We thought we had forgotten our dramamine one year and we all three take it 24/7 at WDW. It was going to cost us an unbeliveable amount to buy it in the gift shop. We were going to go off site to find a drug store but I found it in another suit case. We take it all just in case!! Also good idea to get a prescription from your Dr for any condition that you have frequent occurances of. When DS was little we always asked for a perscription for an antibiotic that we might need for his very frequent ear infections.
BUT yes you can get most things at the gift shops.

There is a drug store that will deliver to the hotels. I think it is a $5.00 cost. But it is well worth it if you need meds. DS got the FLU and we needed Advil, cold meds etc. Also the baby changing stations and First Aid Stations in the parks carry meds but they are $$$$$$$. Oh the name of the drug store is......Turner Drugs.
