Over Sensitive or kinda of Rude?

The other day i emailed customer service because i have not received my Vacation planner, and my two calls (December & January) have not produced a book yet, this is the reply i received

"You should have received it by now, since it was sent out back in November. The Vacation Planner comes in a flat envelope, which can be mistaken for a Vacation Magic magazine, since the publications are
approximately the same size. However, if you are sure you have not received a copy,"

The first thing that came to my mind when reading this was:
1. Duh, that is why i am emailing you, i know they are sent out in the Fall
2. They are CALLING ME STUPID, i'm not intelligent enuf to know the
difference between the two publications?? Come on we dvc owners all
suffer from ODD (obsessive Disney Disorder) and read all correspondence
from disney cover to cover

Okay, yeah its been a bad day and i'm most likely overacting right?, please, give me feedback.

I'm not sure that anyone meant to "call you stupid". I'd suggest reflecting on the fact that they do infact have to deal with many, many people. Some are perhaps not as 'mindful' as you or I might be to be on the look-out for such things. Personally, I like to try to give every situation the benefit of any doubt.

I'm sorry you've had a less than magical day ...I hope that with you're next sunrise, 'A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow' will appear!

It is a poorly written, if you were a little smarter, I get tired of responding type of e-mail. You have a point. You'd have to be stupid not to realize that you have a point....

The planner that was sent out last fall isn't much bigger than a Vacation Magic. Very disappointing. I was looking for banking deadlines the other day, it was way in the back.

They may have had some members mistake it for the magazine, especially if they were looking for a book like it used to be.

I much prefer this smaller version. Easier to store with my DVC stuff.

The message was condescending. I think it did have a little bit of "you stupid idiot" between the lines.

Are they sending you another one? If not, I have an extra I can send to you. I picked it up at the DVC offices while on vacation (I was wanting to add-on, but didn't know how many points I would need...they told me to take it, and think it over since my guide was home sick).

You would be amazed... lots of people actually do need step by step instructions. They probably just find it easier to spell it out. Then if the person did get it, our dues are not spent sending another one. (Some people are proably still waiting for the old three ring binders)

It is a sad comment on our society, but lots of people will remember "OH.... I remember getting that" when they get this description. Lots of DVC members are not obsessive, some of them just let points expire for instance. Cash in Disney's hand!

I work for an HMO where we got lots of calls from people who threw out their HEALTH CARE cards, saying they didn't think the correspondence was important so it would NOT surprise me in the least that people threw out their Vacation Planners, or just filed them thinking they were Vacation Magic.

I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. Not everyone is as smart as you.

(p.s. the organization started stamping the packages, ID CARDS INSIDE so people wouldn't throw them out! although I think they had to stop that due to HIPAA laws--maybe DVC should stamp VACATION PLANNER on the outside of the planners??? Just a thought.....)

There were many members who did not get there planners. That does not mean that we are idiots and do not know how to check the mail. I did not get either my planner or vacation magic so... I could not have gotten them confused.
I think it has something to do with the money saving maneuver not ot send out multilple mailings to people with more than one contract. Now I get none. Great plan Barb

I am with you dvcmember. I did not get our vacation planner, but did get the vacaton magic in the mail. Yes, since I am a Disneyholic, I read everything that comes from Disney. No, I did not mistake the two since only one package came in the mail.

I'm still waiting.....

Ok--now I'm feeling a bit stupid. I have two copies of the Vacation Planner 2004/2005--don't remember when they arrived. Is that the edition that we're talking about here or is there a more up-to-date version--maybe one for 2005/2006?

Not overreacting. You asked for something because you didn't receive it. Why are they second-guessing you? I'd be slightly offended. Sounds like the run-around to me.
