Over Ride Thermostat

Currently at Beach Club in newly renovated (motion sensor) room. Room is 75 degrees, much too warm for us. Would like it at 65. Need help to disable and set on my own. Called maintenance, may take a while. Any help?

I know I read somewhere that they now have a new way and only maintenance can do that - especially with the sensors, that has to be turned off or at night it gets hot again... it was in a trip report...

but in the "Old days" this is the info I have saved:
On the
thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time.
If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the
sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether
you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode
after 24 hours.

If it's a newly remodeled room, most likely what @eeyore45 posted will not work. The new models they have been putting in are not able to be manipulated by the guests, only maintenance. But good luck and please post back and let us know if it worked.

Just google the name brand and model of the thermostat. The procedure is available somewhere.

I would like to know this too. We always bring the instructions with us, but they didn't work last time due to the new thermostats.

Nothing worked. Maintenance could not fix. There also was a power problem due to construction on floor 3. Still warm at 9:00pm so we were moved into older 1st floor room that had the old a/c and it was a pleasant sleep. While moving, we heard that there were several people with the same problem.

oh dislike!

Now I'm going to want to re read all those trip reports! I know I read where the poster (on the trip report) did call maintenance to over ride the sensor so the a/c will remain on during the night. I have tried the "balloon trick" (i.e. let a balloon roam the room so the a/c senses movement) It didn't work for us (the balloon ended up staying in one corner, and one night the banging of the balloon woke up the dd! she screamed, we jumped, it took awhile to settle everyone back down)

Isn't a cool comfortable room part of what you are paying in excess of $500 per night for? I cannot believe that WDW deluxe resorts have motion sensors set that will make guests uncomfortably hot at night unless they get up and move around!!

Totally UNcool!

That is terrible. And I don't like a cold room, but 75?? That's ridiculous. I'm happy at 70, but I know some like it in 60s. They are going to have sooooo many complaints about this system. People should be able to set what temp they're comfortable with. Having to call maintenance every time you want to change room temp??? I bet this will be changed soon after Maintenance can't keep up with all the calls!

We were at bc cl 2weeks ago and the temp stayed at 68 all day and nite. Perfect for us, we never needed to adjust. I think this sounds more like a construction problem then themo

We were in a recently refurbed BC room last month and we had no problem moving the temp up and down. Actually, my only complaint is that the temp would automatically drop to 68 degrees in the middle of the night, a little bit cold for us.

Marking! What brand are they? Same as the aulani ones? We figured those ones out.

Good to know they're adjustable! Having AC you can't adjust is ridiculous. Weird it would change by itself, maybe you had some gremlins sneak into the room!

I took a picture of the thermostat that was in our Beach Club room:

I had the same expereince, but different!-- this month at Pop. I wanted the thermostat at 80 but could not get it ABOVE 74.

(My home doesn't have a/c.)

I thought that only the value resorts had the motion sensor thermostats. But on our recent trip staying at Coronado, there was a motion sensor. Our room wouldn't go below 71 no matter how low we set it, and was a stuffy 73 every night we came back from the parks. Is Disney moving towards installing motion sensor thermostats in all the rooms?

I thought I read that having a balloon in the room helps with the thermostat. The balloon keeps moving with the air so it seems like there is movement in the room.
