Over-rated food that you have tried...

We tried at least 3 different cupcakes, one of which was some type of cinnamon. The rest I don't remember which ones; it was last year. As far as better, I've made baked goods that have been far better, imo. I either use pamela's mix which is not gritty, or something like a flourless chocolate cake with no gf substitute. I also think the OMG it's gluten free! brownies (I've gotten at a few different places in WDW, the most recent was Sunshine Seasons) were better than the items we tried at Erin McKenna's. I had really high hopes for E McK, but it wasn't anything special for me. (or my family)

WDW is so accommodating for gluten free and I've appreciated all the offerings. E Mck just fell flat compared to how much other places offered. Plus the price was $$$!

Yeah, that's definitely disappointing when you're thinking, I paid all this $$$ and I could make better at home. I'm sorry it was a letdown for you!

It was disappointing, but Disney does such a great job with gluten free I don't miss it at all!

I'm actually surprised to see all the Dole Whip comments on here - I thought I was the only one who really doesn't like it haha

I'm not really a huge pineapple fan to begin with so there you go. I don't hate the stuff either - I will eat it if someone's sharing with me or if I'm in the mood - but I don't get all the hype around it. I imagine it would be relatively simple to make yourself at home.

I'm with you 100% - we got a dozen E McK cupcakes for a birthday a couple of years ago and they were all bleh. My feeling is that you can do really good gluten free. Or you can do really good vegan. But once you take all the good stuff out, it's hard to make it good. I have high hopes that Sprinkles will be a better answer - GF cupcake for me (with real frosting) and regular cupcakes for everyone else.

BOG was over rated for us, especially the grey stuff, most bland tasteless thing i have ever tried.

Mickey bars, no better than a Good Humor bar.

I like the Dole whip, but it is overhyped by the fandom. It's not simply pineapple soft serve, since it's dairy-free. And compared to fruit flavored frozen yogurt that I find locally, it does have a more int nose flavor. Or maybe I'm just judging Orange Leaf (which carries Dole whip), since all of their flavors are more intense than their competitors'.

ETA: Tonga toast. Too sweet, destroying the flavor of the fruit. Two breads, with insufficupient egg, and the cinnamon sugar coating ruins the texture of what French toast is supposed to be like. C'mon folks, it's supposed to be a breakfast item, not a dessert.

Cronut. Meh.... Yes agree with the grim dole whip and also mickey waffles. Often over cooked and too crispy on the ears. Nearly tear my throat apart!

Not given enough credit the liberty slushy with ice cream at Sleepy hollow! Omg this is heaven.

I'm too impatient to ever overcook them, so that's not a problem. But it does explain why I never order them at WDW. They're so much better when you make then at home. (And I have one of the older Mickey waffle makers. Still smaller than what you get at the World, but I seem to remember reading about problems with the ones currently on the market.

Agree about Via Napoli pizza. We were so looking forward to it after everything we had read. There seems to be a snobbery about it but honestly, it wasn't very good, soggy crust, not enough seasoning and the bottom was so burnt, part was inedible. Appetizers were great though. I am willing to give it another try however in case it was just an off night.

Carrot cake cookie from the writer's stop...too sweet etc.
Coffee from Starbucks :crazy2: ...of course this isn't disney exclusive.
Dole Whip...I prefer the citrus swirl, but that's just me.
I agree about the bake goods at WDW, haven't found anything that you can't find better at a really good local bakery.

That being said, I'd gladly eat any of these things in Disney World if it meant being there!

What! Your own Mickey waffle maker? That is so cool. I don't think I have seen them in the UK. That would be cool. Plus the bacon. How overcooked? I could write my name in the bacon carbon and use the waffle to stop the table wobbly at SSR lol..

Omg, check out my "name" here! You are all breaking my heart, lol.... I could eat Zebra Domes all day!! They are my favorite!

I hear ya. I don't often jump on fan wagons, but I LOOOOOVE these things!

For me -
Dole Whips,
Edy's Ice Cream
in any park location (borrrring),
Carrot Cake cookie (which the rest of my family is obsessed with and I am sure they want to disown me for not loving it..)

I think that is it? Maybe? I know I did not care for the Piggylicious cupcake from F&W a few years back - everyone was raving about it. Tasted like fake icing and fake bacon, to me..

Pizza at Via Napoli. I was really excited to try this because I've heard raves about it, but I left really disappointed.
Grey Stuff cupcake at BOG. All our other food was great, but the cupcake was pretty flavorless and dry.

Almond cheesecake from Narcoossee's. I was so sad to say that the almond extract was way too much and almost tasted like raw alcohol. Such a pretty dessert too :(

Turkey legs-just the smell of them is revolting
BOG cupcakes-stale, too sweet and dry-my local grocery has better never mind a quality bakery
Popcorn-it is just popcorn-I don't get the hype at all

Cheese Soup @ Le Cellier :crazy2:
Sunshine Seasons at Epcot :crazy2:

Dole Whip- just meh
Carrot Cake sandwich @ HS- just meh
Zebra Domes- just meh (but may have been better if they would have been cold. They were room temp on the buffet)

Yes Zebra Domes are way better cold imho
