Over 9 and eating from kid's menu

I thought I had read on here that children (even adults) over 9 had ordered from the child's menu. I know my 10 year old will not touch anything on an adult menu and we're traveling with a 15 year old who might order an appetizer but will most likely want something from the kid's menu as well. When I asked the reservation person if that would be a problem she said anyone over 9 could not order from the kid's menu. I was wondering what everyone's actual experience with this is?

We've never had any problems ordering kids meals for my kids who are over 9 yrs. old. Most of the restaurants ask my DD12 whether she'd like a kids or adult menu.

Same here. We just returned 12/28.

My DS13 orders from the kids menu at every meal. He does like to share an appetizer with DH (usually calamari) but he doesn't ever order an adult entree. We have never had any problems. :)

There have been tmes that my DW has ordered off the kids menu but only for counter service. She wanted smaller portions and there was nothing else that appealed to her. ;)
