Outside Venue Q's???

I'm thinking of using one of the Epcot outside venues for my reception. I think the area is beautiful and decoratively speaking, exactly what I want.

However, I came back to earth and was startled by a few things.

A) With outside venues, where do guests use the restroom? I hate to sound snobby, but if I'm spending over 10K on a wedding, I'm not sure if I want everyone, myself in my big ballgown included, using a port-o-potty or traveling a country mile to use the facilities.

B) The Bar. Does it cost more to keep liquors outside, refridgeration and everything? Will there be a decent selection or only a few options as for lack of storage? Will it take up significant space?

C) I believe Epcot has slate/stone ground, will we have to purchase a dance floor for liability reasons, or can we just section off a part of the venue?

If anyone has had an outside reception or just happens to be a whiz at this stuff, it would help my poor dizzy head a sure lot, lol.
 
I can not answer any of your questions, but I had a similar thought since we're doing an intimate vow renewal next year. I wanted a private event something similar to the magical gatherings Illuminations Dinner around the world and dessert party. So I called the epcot venue line, but the lady who answered the phone said she was new and didn't know very much, so she'd have an epcot caterer call me. LOL



I hope someone can answer your questions for you. Should someone ever call me back anytime soon, I'll ask these question and post back to you.

Also if anyone knows about table set up at any Illuminations party I'd be greatly interested. I seen in someone's pictures an illuminations event with beautiful table decor with metallic table clothes and some type of sparkly centerpieces. I wanted to know if this was done through Disney or if the host did those themselves. Then cost, etc.

jillybean - outside venues at epcot use the venue bathroom facilities of that country so if your wedding is at the uk garden your guests will use the bathrooms near the red tele booths, etc. as for liquor/drinks the prices vary from hosted $3.25 per soda to $6.75 oer jack daniels vs. package bar $7/1hour soda to $18/1hour premium brands. the same info is on our epcot dessert party info as our reception. so there are a number of options ask your em/wp. not sure about the dance floor.

fun2bmomof3 the magical gatherings illuminations party is different from the dessert party available to disney brides. there is some information on the magical gatherings illuminations dinner & dessert party at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...roducts?id=GrandGatheringsSpecialProductsPage its $59.99adult $24.99child. you would have to be registered as a magical gathering 8 adult guests or more. also try posting this on the themeparks board here on the dis i know there are some other families on there who have done the magical gathering package.
 
I am not sure on all those questions, but twojo21 is right about the bathrooms. Your guests will be using the restrooms that the rest of the resort guests will be using. That was one reason we passed on the American Pavilion. Our guests would have had to go outside and use the public restrooms...and no one..not even Disney can help what public restrooms look like. :) However, I would check your selected area cause the restroom may be inside a restaurant.

In terms of the illuminations table set up. There is a 75 dollar set-up fee and you would rent tables and chairs through Disney. They would also help you set up the table decor the same way they would for an indoor wedding.

Just a bit of advice...research where the alternate reception location is if there is rain or bad weather. Some of the alternates are not as nice and can be kind of stuffy. You don't want to be surprised.
 

we have to stick together fun2bmomof3, lol! The more questions we can get answered at one time/place the better ... they are involved after all ... and I had the same illuminations question but didn't want to bombard my post! great minds think alike.

I just hope France has a nearby restaurant bathroom or else I'm Boardwalking it.
 
Jillybean, I will be at Epcot next week, I plan to scope the venues and see which appeals to me. I'll be sure to check where the nearest bathrooms are for each.

Sometimes I wish the wheels at Disney turned a bit faster and the coordinators got back to you quicker than they do. They look it as you have a year..... we want answers quicker than that. LOL

Yes, I know what the magical gathering events are; but they are not private affairs from my understanding and I want a private affair for my vow renewal "reception" .
I was curious if you could combine an Epcot catered dinner with your Illuminations dessert party.
