Outside TV

some of the newer rigs have an outside entertainment compartment, just flip open the doors and wha-la there you have a flat screen!

well all I have when you flip open the compatment is a radio and some speakers mounted outside. What we normally do is drag out the 23" flat screen/dvd unit set it on a table and watch a little tv or movie

so I got to thinking..............my wife hates when that happends...........

how nice it would be to have a tv mounted on the side so to speak of the RV, like some of the newer rigs. well Im not cutting a door in or anything like that. I was wondering how about just mounting a swing arm assembly wiht the flat screen. not the entire assembly when driving, just the base plate, then when we are camping just use a pit pin to install the arm and TV to the base plate that is secure to the side of the RV.

what do you guys think?

something like this, remember only the base plate will be attached to the outside (properly with the needed support behind it) when rolling, and Ill replace the attching bolt to the arm wiht a quick pin for easy install and removal

I've considered doing the same thing on my 5er. My basement door under the awning isn't big enough for a decent size TV though. I've considered mounting a flat mount plate to the outside of the camper and hanging it on that, but I don't know how one of those mounts would hold up being outside all the time.

Do you have enough room to put the whole TV in the basement? I'd put the swing mount on the inside wall and pivot the TV out when you wanted it. I'll bet the whole TV would travel fine with a little lip/shelf to support the bottom of the TV.

Post some pics if you decide to give it a try.

not a bad idea.. but, you would still have to bring the tv inside when you aren't around. the basement mount is a good idea. but, if you are like us that would be pretty low and the tv wouldn't fit in there.
