Outside food/beverages in SW and BG

Hi all! As a way to save a few $ on our trip to Disney, Universal, Sea World, and Busch Gardens next month, we plan on bringing our own lunches and snacks into the parks - just things like sandwiches, granola bars, and refillable insulated water bottles.

I know Disney and Universal allow outside food in the parks, and I can pretty much guess the answer to my question, but I just wanted to be sure. I was wondering if someone could fill me in on the outside food policy at either/both Sea World and Busch Gardens? We're not trying to drag in huge coolers or anything like that...just a small soft-sided, insulated lunch bag in our backpacks to tide us over until dinner, where we'll do a sit-down, table service meal.

At the very least, will we be allowed to tote around our water bottles, and are water fountains readily available for refills? Just trying to avoid that pesky dehydration and heatstroke problem in the middle of August in Florida.

Not sure on the food but they can't deny you water within the parks. I would assume tap water would be free at the CS stands.

My kids are somewhat picky and I hate to waste the money, so in March at Seaworld, we took sandwiches, grapes and maybe pretzels in with us, bags were checked and nothing was said. We did this one of the 2 days we were there.

Mhmm, they used to not allow outside food or beverage at SW and BG but now they let it in.

We visited SW and BG last week with lots of snacks (granola bars, nuts, drinks). I think there was a sign posted about no outside food but the only items I saw confiscated were cans and straws.

We had no problems bringing food in (in our backpack - I'm not sure what the cooler policy is, but I can't imagine any problems with a soft sided cooler/bag). They did give us problems with our straws that were attached to drink boxes though. I was surprised about that. My DS has a feeding tube and is very particular about drinking without a straw (sometimes will, but usually won't). I started to explain that, and they said we were allowed to have it "for a medical necessity". This was all just in July. Have fun!
