outdoor yard games?

Does anyone know the name of a yard game that has bars you set up to toss little balls that are on ropes over? I don't remember the details, just that I saw people here discussing it a few years ago.

I'm looking for something new to add to our yard game collection. Our lawn is kind of hilly for croquet, the boys are no longer interested in tether ball, Badminton birdies tend to end up in our trees.

Any suggestions?

Do you have an ACE hardware store near you? I just got a sale flyer today, and it's pictured on the front. It's called "Lasso Golf Game" on sale for $19.99. They probably have a website. We have one that my husband made from PVC pipe. He really didn't like drilling the holes in the golf ball, though. Said he almost drilled his fingers off.

Hillbilly horseshoes is what we call the game OP is talking about. By the way, we have Cornhole and it is such a fun game! We take it with us camping and everytime we play it the people camping around us come and check it out. Nothing says summer like a good ole game of Cornhole!!! I see that Sears and Eddie Bauer sell it now too, but they use the more modest name of bean bag toss...just not the same though!

We do too! I LOVE it! Every year we have a BBQ and friends come over and everyone wants to play Cornhole. It's a little addicting!!! To me, summer means, BBQ, beer & Cornole....gheesh, I'm such a redneck!

I think it started as a tailgating game, somewhere in Ohio, maybe. Anyway, it is pretty popular in Tennessee, at least that is where we first heard of it. When we got home, we bought a set on ebay, and it has been a summer staple in our family since then. It's so funny because everyone we tell about Cornhole, laughs, and says "please don't say that", but once they find out what it is, and play, they want a set too!

We have a cornhole game too. My cousin built it for us.

Dh calls it, "Horseshoes for Drunks". After a long weekend at the cabin and many a beer we have to drag out the cornhole game and take the horseshoes away from the guys.

My Dh played this for the first time at our family reunion last year. He liked it a lot and thought we needed one. He couldn't find one in a store so Dh also made ours with PVC and he also calls it "redneck golf".

I just bought Ladder Ball for $20... Oriental Trading company sells basically the same thing for $49.99. I once actually saw it for sale at a convention for $100!!!!

Yes it is a bean bag toss game. Eddie Bauer and Sears sell the game boards as well, but they are not as long as the set we have. We bought ours on ebay. You can get the boards done up whatever way you want (colors, sports).

Yes, this is what we call Hillbilly Horseshoes. Along with this and Cornhole, there is one other popular redneck outdoor game. It is called "washers". It is a small board with three holes in it and you throw washers into the holes. We played this one time as well, and it was fun too.

Disykat, both Walmart & k-mart have ladder golf (or whatever that brand calls it) on sale this week. Also, our Costco has it, but it is more $.
