hi, just curious how many AP holders live outside of California....im seriously thinking of upgrading to dap's when we are there in november. obviously, i need to make sure we would actually/for sure go back within that year.

so, for all the ap out of staters.....how many times do you get back to dland per year? also, are you within reasonable driving distance, or do you fly everytime?

I'm out of state, but seriously considering getting at least one. I think it would be worth it just for dining discounts alone!

We plan on going at least twice this next year. DGF just purchased a DAP this last weekend. We will fly for two trips without the ratpack.

We live on the East Coast and bought DAP's when we were there in May. We will be flying every trip, and right now our next trips are this October and next May. We have already gotten 7 days usage out of the AP. I wouldn't be surprised if we were to figure out a time to sneak in another trip in addition to the two already planned. :goodvibes

Does out of country count??? I'll be an AP holder when I go for my solo trip to the mouse in Oct this year. Am planning a surprise trip for the kids with the family the beginning of Feb/11. It is alot more cost effective if I get an AP, as I save on hopper passes for both trips, and with the AP discount that HOJO's gives, the savings far outweigh the cost of the AP.

oh sorry, of course out of country counts!! i didnt think of that.

so tell me, if i only upgrade MY 6 day hopper....i can get discounts on my families future hopper tics? also, what discount does hojo give to ap holders? i got the ent rate of 50% off for our november trip....it cant be better than that can it?

I'm in the Chicagoland area and have had a PAP since they became available. We fly and go out one to three times per year. Our stays range from 5 to 21 days.

AFAIK, there are no discounts for AP holders to buy hopper tickets. Sorry.

HoJo's AP discount is the same as their ENT discount. 50% off on the days advertised, 20% all other times. AP and ENT discounts are available on exactly the same days.

i have a premium ap, and have gone 9 out of the past months. most of my trips are weekend trips or during school breaks. i usually drive as it is a 5 or 7 hour drive, depending on if i start in flagstaff or phoenix. it definitely is worth it; i had a deluxe at first but upgraded to premium to go during thanksgiving. thanksgiving was a great time to go, it really wasn't that busy.

You're welcome, ShelleyMouse. But I just realized I led you astray :worried:

The AP and ENT discounts are the same on the same advertised days, 50% as I said. But for all other days, the AP discount is better -- 20% for APs, but just 15% for the ENT card.

I didn't realize there was this difference until I went to the HoJo board to check my facts (after the fact - oh well, better late than never).

HTH,

I live in Arizona. I have about a 41/2 hour drive. Before my Son was accepted to West Point we would go between 8 to 12 different times a year. Our stays would be from 2 to 3 days. Now that the Hubby and I are empty nesters I get in about 6 times a year. So, it still pays for me to have the PAP. I can only get the Hubby there once a year, and he loves Christmas time at DL. :tink:

I live in Oregon & only make it once a year but I have the Premium AP for all the discounts & free parking. We got me one last year & when I got home I figured out what I had spent for the AP (by upgrading a 6 day PH) & how much I have saved. We definitely came out ahead by getting the AP!! So I had no problem renewing it this year!! :cool1:

**we drive**

We live in Tucson, it's about a 7 hour drive each way. But we have found that it works best to stop part way and spend the night so we can get to the park early our first day.

We got APs in Feb, when we went over a 4 day weekend. We then went back at the end of May, as a large part of a California vacation. We drove the 7 hours each way for those trips.

We plan on going back for a 3 day weekend in Sept, not sure if we will drive or take the train. Then a week in Oct, where we will fly (thanks to a heads up from the DISboards on a SWA sale). Well, go again in Dec, transport unsure, and probably again in Jan next year as well.

So, we'll get about 24 days at the parks on our APs.

We will also (probably) be able to say we traveled to Disney by Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

I have an AP & I live in Arizona. I'm from L.A. & often go back, so alot of the time I'll stay with friends or family when I go (a few of my friends also have APs). As for actual, planned, "stay in a hotel" trips, I usually do 2 to 3 of those a year. So far I've stayed for almost a week in April, will be there for a few days in October, and will be there for at least a week in December. So even though I'm out of state, I certainly get my $s worth from my AP!

Oh, and I usually fly out...gas $ would cost more than flying :rotfl:

We've been AP holders twice ~ our most recent APs expired mid May. We won't be APers this year, with 2 trips *1st over 4th of July weekend *2nd over Thanksgiving weekend, the Premium *AP with no blockouts* costs more than 2 three *our July PHs are 5 days* PHs.

We go at least once a year. Whenever we have a year where there will be more then 2 trips, I figure that the AP is the better deal so we get them. In the past, we have gotten the DAP but this November, we will be upgrading to PAP if not the new Premier depending on if we go back to WDW or not within that same year. We living in VA so driving isn't an option!!!

I only go once a year but I like having it since I go for 8 to 10 days at a time
