Just back, but ready to go down again. I am now an AP holder as well as a DVC member... I would just need a studio...

What will be the best bang for my buck?

Rent points
AP Discount
DVC Discount

Stay at DVC resort?
Branch out to somewhere else (gasp) on property?

I have actually never booked a trip where I didn't use points and didn't stay at OKW..... :earseek:

hmmmm - but you like studios right?

I think a moderate AP rate would be a nice thing to try. Gives you a chance to get to see some of the other areas around the property and try different resorts. Summer rates are around $109 a night when I called last about AP. the Wilderness Lodge and AK are $139 a night, but tend to be gone quickly.

Branch out - if nothing else, you will gain more of a love for OKW (which I bet you didn't even think would be possible :earsgirl: )

Sound Like you have Addonitis!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You might want to consider buying more points! If you've run out once, it may happen again!LOL

We are in the same boat. We decied to stay at PORS since we have not been there since 2000, (when it still was Dixi Landings). We got a code rate of 89 a night (with tax). We are then heading over to Vero Beach for 3 nights in a ocean view inn room (30 points, our last points.) Since the mods and deluxe have refridgortors in the rooms I hope it won't be that bad. Actually looking forward to the 2 beds. I would use this opprotunity to stay at a new place.

Oh we need an add on, but it isn't going to happen. We are "adding on" to our house and family with a not so new anymore baby. Maybe in a few years.

Believe me - I looked VERY carefully at the SSR offers...

Oh - and I prefer 1BR - in fact we are a 2BR gang, but this will just be the two adults, so anything is fine..

Maybe a monorail resort!!!!!!! Do they ever have discounts?

Ah - sorry Sue...got you confused with another poster there.

Yes, they do have discounts as well, but they REALLY go fast from my experience. I think both the Contemporary and the Poly are on the AP discount list for April - July. (looking now - I just see the Poly, but I have been quoted rates from CRO when I have called.

Good luck!

Thanks - I think my big venture will be a monrail resort. We are planning for the end of Sept, so wish me luck!!!

I appreciate the opportunity to talk about this - it really helps.

Good choice. Let us know what you end up with.

ITA - Good Choice! And now you get to vist a new board: The Resorts Board! Which to pick? Contemporary? Grand Floridian? The Polynesian (my fave)?

Be well!

Sue... we really enjoyed the Poly..... Our next venture away from DVC units will be the Cabins at F Wilderness next spring or fall.

wow - i'm checking the Poly - certainly I trust the opinions of everyone on this board - and you guys have overwhelmed me. It's actually one of the resorts I've never stepped foot on.

I am also out of points for now but want another trip! Prior to joining DVC, I stayed at the Contemporary, Poly, CBR, POR. I would lean towards a moderate or the Poly - it's just the kind of place everyone should try once. Let us know what you decide!

Well, if it helps, the original name of the restaurant at the Polynesian, before it became Ohana, was The Papeete Bay Verandah! Need I say more?

Sue.... some people strongly dislike the poly... so dont just take our word for it :) Poke around the resort board, the debates over the best resort threads are amusing. :rotfl2:

Probably like our resort debates! :rotfl2:

Anything with Verandah in the name has got to be good. I promise, I will do my homework!

Another recommendation for the poly, my favorite resort before buying into DVC--in fact if not for loving the poly so much I would have bought into DVC sooner. Here's the best poly website ever:

And I suppose you know about Mousesavers.com for discount codes but just in case you don't here is the link:
http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#codes
There are currently no discount codes for the general public, and the ap discounts have only been released until July. But you can sign up for the newsletter to be informed of any new discounts.

Have fun deciding/planning!
