Well, that didn't take long. I'm now out to 75% of my coworkers in my department. I had a feeling once I signed up for FB it'd come out. It wasn't even 24 hrs! I added a coworker. He looked at my best friend's page which had a link to his livejournal. He was reading his LJ and came across his post about my trip down there. It mentioned our bad luck at Chefs de France and how one reason we like eating there is for the cute waiters yet we always get stuck with a waitress. I'm not sure if he saw this Monday night after I created my page or Tuesday. But he proceeded to email a few other coworkers and tell them about it. Tuesday my coworker that I came out to last month txt me to tell me to get online so we could talk and he told me it was out.
I had been out sick the last 2 days so today was my first day back. Only one coworker said anything about it. He pulled me in to our conference room and said he was hurt I never told him before. I used to work with him at my second job and we had a lot of down time, so we would talk quite a bit. He was angry I never told him during one of our talks. He said nothing would change with us. Of course, he has to have some fun with it. We went to a business lunch today and he sat next to me. At one point he reaches over and puts his hand on my lap. LoL I really don't think anyone will have a problem with it. After coming out to my coworker last month it made me want to come out to everyone else in the department. It was a weight off my shoulders. It's just awkward after working there so long, how do I bring it up? Perhaps that's why I decided to just let it happen from FB.
One thing that really impressed me was my coworker, E, that I came out to last month and his reaction. It was nice of him to let me know. Today when talking with my other coworker he was telling me how protective E was. He insisted that no one give me a hard time about it. My coworker said he was very adamant about it. That's very shocking given that E can be considered a bit self centered and not show much emotion for others.
So I'm glad it's mostly out in the open and I can be "myself". Like E said, now I'll know who my friends are. He definitely is!
