Just got our power back after nearly 48 hours from a nasty wind storm in our part of Nova Scotia. One wind gust here was recorded at 119km/hr but there may have been some that hit 130 km/hr! Laying in bed when that gust hit made me realize my house is NOT where I want to be if a hurricane comes through! Lots of roof damage in our area, thousands of trees down and some people will be without power for another few days.

Turned on the news to get a sense of the world beyond to find out there's flooding in New Brunswick, which is a bit of an understatement looking at the pictures, wicked blizzards in Edmonton and 300 cars stuck in snow drifts on Ontario's highways!!

PLEASE tell me this isn't going to be a trend this year!! Two days behind in my Christmas preparations and now I have to lay in more supplies for my emergency kit....at least I was prepared this time thanks to the hurricane threat a few months ago!

Take home message?! This storms this week throughout our country seemed to have taken everyone by surprise....be prepared folks! Sometime the forecasters get taken by surprise too and you never know when you're going to need to take care of yourself in your car or vehicle for awhile!

Fellow Bluenoser here as well. After we got our power back on Tuesday Morning I was playing with my daughters iPod, she still has the weather set for Orlando as well as ours...I was floored when it said 10 degrees here and -1 for Orlando!! Canada sure has had some crazy weather this week and there are parts of the US that are getting pounded with lots of snow..can't help but think Global Warming ..

Last winter, I used my snowblower only twice ... and really I didn't need it. Then this summer ... in 48 years I can't remember better weather. Sunny and warm almost the entire summer. :confused3

Yet when a Storm comes ... it seems to be more severe than ever.

Crazy weather, left Debert yesterday at 1 pm, it was just cloudy, 40 minutes later on the way to Halifax it was icy and cars off the road everywhere, 20 kms further and we drove out of it. Never know what to expect lately.

And not a drop/flake here in the Valley...there's rumors of some yuck tomorrow though. :guilty:

Rainbowmist: I am not from Debert, but not far away, my husband works in Debert and I had just picked him up there. I have broken wrist so driving to Halifax by myself wasn't an option. Taking my husband shopping was my only alternative. I only needed 2 items, but ended up with 6 and was told NO MORE DECORATIONS.

My hubby works in Debert too :thumbsup2 I was told the same thing last night...we're done, we're done we're done! Went to Walmart to have tires put on and managed to spend another $100 while waiting...not sure how that happened :confused3 considering I was done all my shopping :rotfl:

Rainbowmist: This is too funny, I met my neighbor on here a couple of years ago.

Not sure whether this is good or not, but yes.

Haha!! They are great people! I actually went to school with K and played sports against her as a kid. Their kids are great too...until they moved in June they went the same school I work at :thumbsup2

Now you really have peaked my curiosity, I have grandkids in that school.

:goodvibes Hello,
