My family and I went to WDW last weekend to celebrate my birthday; we flew in Friday night and flew back home Sunday night, through OHare. We stayed at BCV for cash (DVC members) in a 1-bedroom. We sent a USPS priority package ahead the Tuesday before (toiletries and suntan lotion) and it was waiting for us on arrival.
We had never been to WDW in September before. We had the best time! The parks were not crowded, and while the temperature was hovering around 90 degrees the whole time, the lack of crowds made at least maneuvering through the parks pleasant. We also didnt have a drop of rain. We went to Typhoon Lagoon Saturday am, Epcot in the pm, AK on Sunday am, and MK Sunday pm.
What struck us the most was the lack of strollers! We have never seen WDW so kid-free. I will definitely consider going in September again. Im not anti-kid, I have two of my own (11 and 9), but the atmosphere was so different this trip.
We have been to WDW several times since Soarin opened, and have never been able to get a FP that had a return time within the hour! This was at 2:00 in the afternoon! On Saturday! The standby time was longer (wait time 60 minutes) than the FP return time. At AK, Expedition Everest FP was the same situation, at 11 am. We walked on to Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur had a posted wait of 20 minutes, but we also walked on.
My husband and I went to Kimonos Friday night after getting the kids settled in front of Disney channel TV. It was a lot of fun; again, there were no children.
On Saturday, my husband and I went to Blue Zoo for dinner. It was a wonderful meal. On Sunday all of us went to Kona Café for lunch. I dont think we will be going back there. We have eaten there a few times, and we like the atmosphere of the Poly, but this restaurant is just so average.
We had a great trip, and are happy to be home resting!
FYI: Upon check-out on Sept. 17th, we handed our USPS priority mail package ($8.10) to the CM at the Beach Club front desk. We still haven't received it yet (should have been here 2-3 days after being mailed-it's been almost 3 weeks), and I'm losing hope that we will get it back. I've called the BC, and our post office. Next time, I will use something trackable, like UPS or FedEx.
