DH and I spent a weekend at Disney last month. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for the first time, and really enjoyed it.
I'll start by saying w arrived in the early afternoon, and asked if we could upgrade our room. The CM helping us (Dawn) was very nice, and got a great room for us, and it was ready by the time we finished checking in.
Our room was number 9734, in Parterre Place, one of the "mansions." This is considered a river-view room, but we couldn't really see the river through the trees. I was just as happy to see trees, as long as it wasn't a parking lot view! It was very quiet.
The room itself was nice, about what I expected for a moderate. I will say that some of the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, and a lightbulb was burned out over the sinks. The same lightbulb stayed out the entire weekend (we did not complain).
While there, we ate at Boatwrights, which was very nice. We were the first ones there that night; had 5:00 PS. Our server was very nice. I think her name was Jennifer, but I'm not sure. I had prime rib. Also I had a giant mudslide, a yummy ice cream/chocolate beverage.
Also we ate at the food court for breakfast one day. DH was not pleased with his eggs or bacon (cold and greasy respectively). I had French toast with bacon, and it was only OK.
One night we requested extra towels. It took about an hour to get them.
So far this sounds kind of negative, but overall we really enjoyed the resort. The landscaping is excellent. We loved the scenery, and took 27 pictures just of the hotel. We are trying to convince our friends to stay onsite next year when they come down! We saw two rabbits hopping around on the grounds, which shows (to me) how peaceful and quiet it is there.
We did not use the bus service. And we never rode the boat to DD, but I have heard that it is a great ride. Oh, and no towel animals. :(

I think POR is such a beautiful resort. I love to hear about people enjoying thier stay there. I really believe you get so much for your $ in just atmosphere alone.
