My Dining Report...Finally!
12-29-04---01-06-05
Some Background: My DF (Billy) and I (Gina) went to WDW to get married. I have been to WDW twice before, once when I was six and once when I was 19. This is the first trip however, that I have planned and the first trip I have ever stayed on site. Billy had never been to WDW before and I think we have a brand new Disney lover on our hands now! We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and absolutely loved it. Of course, I will talk about that more in the trip report. If you like negative reviews, you will not like this report. We truly did not have one bad meal. Of course, there were a few bumps in the road, but everything on the whole was good. We kept expecting our bad meal to happen but it never did. On to the food!
12-29-04: We stayed off site this night because we used this day to get our marriage license and to relax before we started our Disney invasion. After running all of our errands, we went to Downtown Disney for some shopping. We ate at Earl of Sandwich where I will say without a doubt that I had the best meatball sandwich of my life! Billy had the Original which is roast beef, cheddar cheese and horseradish sauce. He loved it, but I sure he was actually jealous of my sandwich. We also had some jalapeno chips and a giant coke. This was very inexpensive and good. I would recommend it to anyone.
Bliss!
12-30-04: Our First day at Disney! We were at POFQ by 7:00 am to check in and to get our park hoppers. Of course, our room wasn't ready but we were able to eat at the food court. I had my very first Mickey Waffle with a side of sausage.
Billy had the King Creole breakfast, which had eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. We bought our refillable mugs and had cokes. I also had some orange juice, but at $2.99 a bottle I didn't make that mistake again. Everything was very good except for Billy's eggs. He thought they tasted funny.
Lunch: Tusker House at AK. We both had the fried chicken sandwich with fries. We got two of the deals where you get an entree, a beverage, and then popcorn or ice cream and a bottled drink later. This was a good deal for us because I am a popcorn fanatic and we were going to buy it anyway. The sandwich was very good, and the fries were very hot and tasty. It was really hard to find a table because it was so busy, but we finally found a nice table outside.
Snacks: Popcorn and Coke, Toll House Cookie Sandwich (yum!) and bottle of water. When we were getting our ice cream sandwich the CM gave us a free Mickey Bar and said "Congratulations!" because I was wearing my wedding ears. This was very nice!
Dinner: We went to Pop Century to help my mom and grandma with their luggage and we ate at the food court with them around 9:00. This place was crazy busy and it made me appreciate POFQ so much. We had a hot dog and fries and I also had some bites of my nephew's pizza. Everything was good but you can't really mess up a hot dog, right? The CM at the checkout gave us a pressed penny and said congratulations. It was so sweet.
12-31-04: Our Epcot day! We had breakfast at the food court. Both of us had sausage, potatoes and cokes. The potatoes at the food court are so good! They have bits of onion and some kind of spice on them. If you haven't noticed the trend yet, I am addicted to cokes and sausage links. I have been on a diet for a long time due to the wedding and I was finally able to go crazy at WDW. The rule is that I can only drink Coke at WDW. Thank goodness for refillable mugs!
Lunch: Rose and Crown Pub. Our whole family was at Epcot but we wanted to be alone for lunch before our big family dinner that night. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. We had the mushroom medley for a starter and this was so delicious! Billy had the Fish and chips and I had the Bangers and Mash. Billy was not impressed with the Fish and Chips, but they weren't bad. It was just a tad too greasy for him. He still ate them! The bangers and mash was so good! If you ever go to the Rose and Crown you have to try this! Every bite was so flavorful and I love cabbage so I was in heaven. We were too full for dessert.
Snacks: Strawberry Kaki Gori in Japan. So good and it was really getting hot so this hit the spot.
Dinner: Teppenyaki. We had a party of 13 (everyone who was coming to the wedding) so we were split up into two tables. At our table we had the most entertaining and enthusiastic chef ever. He was yelling and slapping his legs the whole time. The food was very good and I'm glad we chose this place for dinner. I had the chicken and scallops. The scallops were so tender and the chicken was also good. The veggies that he served were also great. I usually hate steamed rice but this rice was good with some of the mustard soy sauce on it. Billy had the chicken and steak, which he liked. Teppenyaki was a big hit with all of our guests and we would go back again.
01-01-05: Our Wedding Day! Of course I couldn't sleep and was up at 3:30. At 6:00 when the food court opened Billy went down and got me a bagel and cream cheese. It was good but nothing special. My hair and makeup lady showed up at 7:30, and then my mom, grandma and nephew came at 9:00. We went down to the food court because my 2-year-old nephew hadn't eaten yet. He had a Mickey Waffle, and my grandma had a cinnamon roll. I tired to eat some sausage, but nerves were creeping up on me, so this didn't work out.
Snacks: Wedding cake! We were married at the Wilderness Lodge and the cake was so delicious. We had chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse filling. Our server said that we chose the best cake and I agree.
I have to close now...but I will return with part 2 including California Grill, Mama Melrose's, and more sausage and cokes!
