Our Trip To Saratoga Springs

We absolutely love Saratoga Srpings - the look of the resort, the location, the bus service, all of it. Maybe it would be great to overlook Magic Kingdom, but we really love being close to Downtown Disney. This is our second trip, and we stayed in room 1107. We walked out a back door and were pretty darn close to the walkway to Downtown Disney. We were on the first floor, which we liked. I wish that we could have left our room from the balcony. We woudln't have to go to the parks, but a lot of times DH took the girls to the pool and that would have been much closer.

I loved having the washer and dryer in our room. It was great to do a load of laundray everyday when we returned from the parks. The kitchen was pretty much wasted on us, but the refrigerator was really nice to have.

This is the second time we have ordered water to have delivered to the resort through Staples, and this is the second time that Saratoga Springs has lost it. This time it only took until the end of day two to find it. Last time we received it at the end of our trip. I don't understand why this is an issue, as I hear of many people doing this. I put every piece of information I can think of on our label, except hold for lady who will be crabby if you lose her water again. I also don't understand why it's an issue when I present them with a shipping paper they don't just give me water. For them, it's costing very little money. It didn't really cost me that much. I ordered it for the convenience of having it. If you lose it, replace it.

Because this is something that I "own" I look was probably more critical of this resort then I am of other hotels/resorts I stay at. Next month when I return I will be taking family with me. I am very prideful of all of Dsney World, but especially of Saratoga Springs and my "home". Our last visit, I thought our room was perfect. This time, I noticed a few things. One of those things was pen marks on the chair - all over the chair. If I owned that chair, I would have purchased something to take care of that stain. There was paint chipped off of baseboards at places, and there was a scratch of paint off the refridgerator. These were all minor things and easy to take care of. The biggest thing was the microwave. It was dirty. And, not only that, but the panel was on upsidedown. While it doesn't hurt the use, it just looks like someone was lazy and didn't care. I even took a picture -

Again, overall we loved the resort. We love DVC and don't regret buying at all. In fact, we talk very often about buying more points. It was a wonderful relaxing vacation. The weather was perfect.
 
That's hilarious. We're at SSR right now and I just got up to check our microwave. It's good and it's clean. We're in 6836 (studio) just across Broadway from the Congress Park bus-stop.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to SSR. We always like spending time there as well.

As far as the upside-down microwave door goes, unfortunately that's either just another example of CMs not reporting problems when they see them or maintenance not following up when problems are reported. It's hard to believe that nobody noticed this until you checked in, but anything is possible I suppose. I guess functionally the microwave works, but it does make the housekeeping/maintenance CMs seem a little loopy.

When we were there in July we also ordered water to be delivered and only got 1 of 2 boxes. I was told that was all that was delivered. Well when I got home I contacted Costco and they said the second box was rejected by SSR. Costco did refund my money, but I wonder why nobody made a note of why it was rejected to let me know.

DH didn't notice either. I pointed it out to him. While it didn't stop anything from working, it just showed that someone else didn't care enough to do it right.
 
We love SSR and truly had no problems while there. I think I could (very happily) live there! :thumbsup2

I also could live there, very happily. There were just a few minor things that I thought should have been taken care of. If I lived there, they would be on my "honey do" list.
 
Hopefully a cash paying guest wont stay in that room....they would want a refund for the trauma......lol

I didn't realize you could mount microwaves upside down. Don't they come with pre-installed manufacturer brackets on the bottom?

Perhaps it's like a refidgerator door where you can switch the door to open the other way??

Can you imagine the pain and suffering it could cause? Someone could become dizzy and confused and run into the counter, stub a toe, and their vacation could be ruined!! :) :)

I'm the one who posted the picture. It didn't affect our trip one bit, but to make me think, "hmm, is this the extra special attention to detail that they pay to DVC resorts?"
