1st week December vs 2nd week January? Lower Crowds?

When do we think the crowds are lower or are they pretty much a wash?

Not worried about the holiday aspects or anything like that simply the crowds.

My bet would be on 2nd week January 2027 to have lower crowds than 1st week December 2026.

That week in Jan is more likely to come across something like a 20min wait for FoP in the early afternoon - points where the lowest crowds dip deeper than anytime of that Dec week. And on average I think Jan will come in 1-2 notches lower on a Crowd Level 1 to 10 Scale.

Of course there’s plenty of other stuff to consider, but on a purely crowd related comparison Jan would be my pick.

Second week in January is usually a marathon week, lots of people! And families with kids (college) still on break. DFB has reported crazy crowds still this week.

They haven’t come out with anything for 2027 yet, but this is Jan 2026 and Dec 2026.

"Second week of January" kind of depends on how the Marathon Weekend falls. Sometimes it's the weekend after New Year's and sometimes it's a little later. In 2027 MW will be Jan. 6-10, so the week beginning Jan. 10 will probably be pretty good crowd-wise, but then again if Festival of the Arts begins that Friday Jan. 15, crowds might be starting to pick up at that point for the Festival as well as for MLK weekend. I'm thinking the first week of December would probably be less crowded.

Our last 2 visits in January (2nd & 4th week) felt less crowded than our last 2 December (1st and 3rd).

But it looks like December might be improving crowd-wise, while January is getting busier?
