Our trip pics (8/24 - 9/3)

I can't see them either!! To the original poster, you can't move the pictures off of photobucket once you link them here!!!!!

Oh, shoot. I did say I was a photobucket novice.
I renamed the album they were in because I was trying to organize my photos. I put it back to the original name, so the pics should be back.

there back! I see the pics! :cool1:

Keep of the tr....enjoying seeing your kiddos smiling faces! :)

Yay! The pictures are back, and they're great! I'm hoping you have more...

We had to break down and set an alarm for the next morning (Weds the 28th) so we didn't miss rope drop. The kids, especially train crazy DS, love the opening show and my Mom had to leave the next day so it was her last chance to see it.

See how early we were? Only 40 or 50 people beat us. :lmao:

IMG_1147.jpg

I was not kidding about my kids loving this show.

The morning is the best time to ride my son's favorite ride - the race cars!

IMG_1182.jpg

We had one other priority, and that was meeting Tinkerbelle. Here's where we had our first "What the Heck was he thinking?!" moment of the trip. We've never been to a Toon Town Rope Drop, so we walked down there a bit early. The CMs came out and made the announcement that they would be leading us down the street, that we should not run, blah blah blah.
We start walking down the street in a group, we get to Minnie's House and some maroon pushing his toddler in a stroller decides it's a good time to start running. He pops the stroller up onto the sidewalk and charges. His wife was right behind him. I don't know what he was thinking - even if he was the last one of all of us in line, there were only maybe 6-8 little girls heading for Pixie Hollow.
He tripped off the curb trying to swerve around the line of CMs leading us up the street. My husband and I both heard a loud snap - I'm SURE he broke his ankle. One of the CMs peeled off and dealt with him, they were all very calm like it happens all the time.

I don't get this attitude. You're on vacation. You're pushing your child in a stroller. Use your head.

So anyway, we met the fairies. It was a nice meet and greet - inside, in the air conditioning. HUGE bonus with how hot it was. I let the photopass guy take the pics, and they aren't that great, so I won't post any.

We did some other stuff that my Mom wanted to do before she left, and then decided it was a good day to be at the pool and left.

I'm sorry to say this was one of the nights we did the pool and then the campfire, but I have no photos because we didn't want to take our camera to the pool. It was tons of fun! To make up for the lack of photos, I will tell you the knock knock joke that Cowboy Anthony told us that night.

"Knock, Knock"

"Who's there?"

"Winnie Dup"

"Winnie Dup Who?"

"I just made you say Winnie the Pooh!"

I do love that singalong. It's the one and only time you will catch the Indifam doing the chicken dance.

We had to say goodbye to Grandma the next day, which was rough on the kids. We spent a lot of time on the playground that morning, then the girls wanted to go to DHS while the boys napped.

I like DHS. The buildings are so hip looking. There's not much for my kids there, though. They don't like dark rides or dark shows which rules out a lot of things. They really liked TSMM, but you can only do that ride once with the whole Fast Pass situation.

I love Frozone.

It was a good girlie afternoon.

IMG_1250.jpg

We went out for dinner that night, to Sanaa at AKL - Kidani. It was great! I highly recommend it. You eat looking out over the Savanah so we saw zebra and giraffe during dinner. (No, they are not on the menu! :scared1:) Kidani was beautiful too.
We went to the Rock n Glow party at DHS after dinner. We watched Mulch, Sweat, and Shears perform and loved them. But we could not stay out late, because tomorrow would be the one other day we had to set an alarm...

For breakfast...

At the castle. :scared1:

We had some great Pixie Dust the next morning. We left the cabin about 7AM for our ADR, planning to take the Contemporary boat over and walk to the MK - we knew the MK boat would not be running early enough. Our bus driver to the Marina was someone we recognized from trips earlier that week - and he asked where we were going and then drove us right to the MK!
I will say that he was in good company with bus drivers this trip. They were awesome and everyone of them was friendly and helpful - several of them gave the kids little treats.

The very best thing about having a breakfast ADR at the castle is being let into the park before it opens. It's not often you have Main Street to youself. These are some of my favorite pictures.

IMG_1264.jpg

Breakfast at the castle for the 5 of us cost more than I care to admit! It was just okay. We wanted to take the girls there so they could see it once. We probably won't ever do it again, though.

IMG_1302.jpg

They give out the swords BEFORE they bring the food, FYI. To a 2yo boy. :rotfl:

IMG_1291.jpg

After breakfast, we did Fantasyland. We had already ridden It's a Small World about 12 times on our other MK days, but we had to ride it again because it's the DDs favorite and it was closing for refurb the next day.

This is my son's way of telling you how he felt about riding IASW again...

IMG_1334.jpg

Don't worry, we ended the torture with that last ride.

We met the big Cheese and his main squeeze.

IMG_1359.jpg

The kids love that toon town playground.

IMG_1370.jpg

We left the MK early that day, too. The pool and the fort was calling again. We had our second Giddy up and Go dinner that night then went back to Epcot for more Illuminations.

The next morning my husband took the little ones to the Fort beach to build sandcastles, but my oldest DD wanted to go back to Epcot to see more of Innoventions. She's our little engineer and spent probably an hour at each exhibit. I've never seen a kid so focused.
I have a Disney Visa, so I did make her do the photo op, which is a cool perk.

IMG_1425.jpg

That night we went to dinner at Ohana. We love their breakfast, and wanted to give dinner a try. It was good. The food wasn't gourmet, but there was a LOT of it. And the kids had a blast learning to hula.

IMG_1429.jpg

In case you were wondering - this is the child who will keep her father up at night.

IMG_1430.jpg

Her father looked pretty happy with a lapu lapu in his hand, though. Nothing says "vacation" like drinking out of a pineapple.

IMG_1431.jpg

I'm pretty sure we rode the monorail (at DS's request) for about 3 loops after dinner. Then we tried to go watch the MSEP again, but it was rained out. We settled for some shopping then went to bed.

You are still doing great!!!

A few random comments;

1. I have to confess that it has been a while since the TCD gang visited the campfire. I didn't know there are knock-knock jokes and the chicken dance. Nice. It sounds like we need to stop by there.

2. Way to go- two Giddyap and Go's on one visit!

3. Great photos from your early morning at the MK!

4. I need to get me one of those drinks in the Pineapple.

Great pics and such a happy looking family! The parade pics were really great. Glad to hear that I am not the only one who can be brought to tears at Disney (by something other than the prices!:lmao:). Those are the first pics of the "honoring America" float I have seen..very touching!:wizard:

I have some pics of the Honoring America Float from a recent trip we took as well. Ill have to put them up, it was interesting because the float broke down right in front of us and they had to bring out a large tug and pull it the rest of the way down the route. Not something you see everyday and Im sure Disney was quite embarrased over it.

This is high praise from the TR master himself! Thank you.

1. You have to get back to the campfire! (Did you know you can bring your own marshmellows? ;)) My kids have retold the knock knock jokes about 7000 times. They think they are hilarious.

2. That really is the best dinner deal at WDW. I will share a moment of silence and suffering if/when they stop offering it. I forgot about the cowboy beans, though. Next time.

3. That was a great thing to experience. The parks were so crowded that week, it was just great to have those 30 minutes to ourselves.

4. The lapu lapu is a must do. I can also recommend the rum runner. Not as pretty, but just as effective.

I forgot to mention earlier that we tried the school bread in Norway! Holy cow! That stuff rocked. I think it was DaveinTN who mentioned it here. Yum.

My last few pics are next.

You see?

This is why is read the Disboards.

I've been to Epcot a time or two.

And, I've never tried the school bread.

But, I will next time.:thumbsup2

Enjoying your TR and the great pics. Looks like your whole family had a great time. The kids are adorable.

You can buy it at the Kringla bakery in Norway. They are little pastry bread rolls with cream inside. Coconut on top. I have seen the recipe posted elsewhere on the Dis. They had other tasty looking treats in there, and there were people getting sandwiches that looked good too. I put it on my 'lunch' list for next trip.

The final weekend we took another trip to DHS so the boys could see it. My son loved meeting the Cars and we had to get pizza at Pizza Planet. The girls and I also went back to the animation academy so they could meet Sorceror Mickey and see that villain Lotso from a safe distance.

IMG_1568.jpg

We also went to the Beauty and the Beast show, which was a first for us, while the guys took in Lights Motors and Action.

We went out for one more big dinner on Sunday night to the Biergarten in Epcot. I was really surprised how much we loved it. I think my younger daughter would STILL be eating if we'd left her there. :rotfl: I've never seen her put away so much food.

I loved, loved, loved the polka band. I don't know what that says about me, since one of them was playing an accordian! :scared1: But they were so fun. We had a table right next to the dance floor (I think the hostess pegged us as chicken dancers...)

IMG_1510.jpg

I know what you're thinking. That's a serious horn.

And this is a serious beer.

IMG_1508.jpg

We found out they WILL give you a to go cup so you can take your half gallon of beer with you when you go. Bonus.
Not everyone was a fan of the music.

IMG_1511.jpg

But he did enjoy the dancing. :cool1:

As a Public Service Announcement, they do not actually serve drinks at this bar -
IMG_1519.jpg

Apparently, it's just a toystore.

We watched Illuminations one more time and then said our final farewell to Epcot. I think this may have turned out to be my oldest DD's favorite park. I know it's mine.

IMG_1525.jpg

Then we had our last day at the MK and it was the only time the kids all agreed on riding out front on the boat.

IMG_1493.jpg

IMG_1482.jpg

We finally got to meet Pluto - here he is putting ODD's autograph book on his nose.

IMG_1468.jpg

We watched the Electrical Parade and the fireworks one last time, then said our goodbyes. It was such a great trip. I'm so thankful we were able to do it.

I wish we had taken more FW pics. Both my husband and I kept thinking the other one had the camera. Next time, we'll take 2! We took a lot of time to just relax and enjoy our deck this trip, it was very nice.

I don't think we'll be back next year. It's going to get more expensive now that my DS is turning into a paying customer, and he and my YDD are still so darn short they can't ride any of the bigger rides. By 2012, we should be stroller (and diaper) free, and that will be nice.

Of course, that's just what I say now. I can already hear myself telling my husband, "It's so pretty at Christmastime! Just a few days... "
